Product Review: Clarion NX404 Double DIN Navigation

Brand: Clarion
Product: NX404
URL: All New Clarion NX404 !!! Full Featured Value-Driven Navigation & Multimedia System | BPG Autosound

This is Clarion's new "entry level" double din Navigation system. This was one of the contenders for "Best Innovations" at CES 2014. It pretty much has all the standard bells and whistles that any Navigation deck with have (USB, IPOD, Bluetooth, DVD video, touchscreen, camera input, etc). Clarion's older model navigations were known to have a few firmware issues but seemed to have finally gotten it right.....so far.

Pros:
-Cost effective
-HDMI input for mirroring smart phones
-Rotary knob for volume (i hate button type volume controls)
-Beautiful User Interface
-Dual USB
-SUPPORTS FLAC!!!!!
-Triple Preouts
-Good screen quality
-Very good bluetooth audio streaming
-3D navigation
-Decent loadup time

Cons:
-Internal Bluetooth mic is garbage (Clarion ships the unit with the external mic for the time being because of this issue)
-Only 800 x 480 resolution (Which I guess is enough for your car, but would be nice to see in dash receivers have higher resolution)
-Only 2V preouts (kind of expected in an entry level headunit)

Summary:
Overall amazing headunit for the price. Seems to do alot more than the previous generation. We'll have to see how it compares to the new 2014 Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, etc navigation units when they come out. But so far I think this deck rocks. I'll keep you guys updated if we encounter any issues down the road.
