Get a stovetop popper and buy the prepackaged stovetop packs that come with flavoured oil. Everyone I've made popcorn for with it loves it and says it's way better than air popped or microwave. Goes for $30-40.

Stove top or air popped popcorn is usually the best.

This one here is a good buy - Toastess Hot Air Corn Popper - White - TCP713 - London Drugs

Disregard the reviews. The people who reviewed the popper did not follow instructions. You put too many kernels into the machine, you will obviously get kernels that fall out or go unpopped. Don't be afraid to experiment with it in terms of how much/how little to use. The key is to buy fresh kernals when possible and to control and to watch over the kernels. I know some people want to "set it and forget it" but if you want good, tasty popcorn, supervision is required. It's part of the fun and practice makes perfect!

I actually bought this 2 years ago from London Drugs and used it a few times for popcorn. I now use it strictly to roast coffee beans. Both the popcorn and coffee beans turn out great!

Edit: I bought the popcorn kernels from here - http://tietzfamilyfarms.com (Send them an e-mail or phone them to have it shipped to Vancouver. I went to pick mine up in Blaine, WA.)

Pix of coffee
Spoiler!
