Reminder: Avatars being wiped tomorrow
 

Once again despite very strict moderation, we are dealing with TOS violations. They are finding nudity somewhere on the site, but won't say where. I am going to assume it is some avatars... We have deleted most of the racy ones, but I think people have been adding them again.

So rather than go through every single one, we are going to do a full wipe, and everyone can start from scratch.

So if you like your current avatar and it's your only copy, grab it now and you can re-use it after we do the wipe.

Since Google's rules aren't entirely clear, we are just going to have to say: No pictures of half naked women or men. At all. If for some reason you like to represent yourself with a female, just use a picture from the neck up. This way, we don't have to worry about 'grey areas' that may be against the rules.

Basically pretend you are a kindergarten teacher, and consider anything that would be NSFW as a kindergarten teacher to be against the rules.

We are going to be VERY strict on this, and everyone is receiving the same warning. So please don't make us have to deal with declining your avatars, etc. I know the rule is somewhat vague, but I am pretty sure it is easy to understand. If not, ask here first.

This will take place in about 12-15 hours or so.

These guys sound like a bunch of dicks, why won't they just say where the problem is so you know what's over the line

It's definitely difficult to work with them with this type of communication.

We usually do a good job of moderating. BUt when one thing slips through, it looks like the search the entire site looking for more problems.

This time it was caused by someone posting a link to piracy in the top gear thread last year.

Also if you know of any NSFW or illegal content that hasn't been picked up, please let me know. It can be through PM... No points will be given this time, I just want to make sure everything is as clean as possible.

This includes links to ANY sites that have nudity, piracy, or drugs. And yes, that includes this very site.

The only one I recall seeing recently is that guy with the creepy cartoon girl avatar, those japanese school girl ones for perverts. Maybe thats the one Google is flagging?

I've had avatars disabled for years.

NWS is blocked from all google and isn't involved with this.
