Yo I just picked these up, pretty good deal if anyone is looking for some tools on the cheap

I can't wait to lose half of these and bleed all over under my hood

Iceman-19 03-19-2014 05:45 PM

Black tools. Worst idea on the fucking planet.

lowside67 03-19-2014 06:07 PM

Also, while the Mastercraft stuff is spendier, it also goes on sale regularly and has an awesome warranty - no receipt necessary, just walk in, replace with current item, leave.

Friend bought a set a while back.
He spent hours working on his car because he couldn't find his BLACK tools in his BLACK engine bay...in the dark with a trouble light. :failed:

yray 03-19-2014 06:36 PM

it was an additional $5/$10 off last weekend :lol

matte black sockets look like shit after being used, only good for displaying :troll:

icemiko 03-19-2014 06:40 PM

Good deal for the price if you don't car about the color but they go on sale regularly.

Peturbo 03-19-2014 06:41 PM

lost one of my black snap-on impact swivel sockets. $70 mistake. :crybaby:

It's not a colour thing.
It's a "Where the fuck did that 10M Socket go? I JUST HAD IT" thing.

Instead of using your tools to do work, you're wasting time trying to find the actual tool. That you just had. Like 5 seconds ago.

Ever drop a socket and have it fall in a weird corner on top of your underbody panel? Goodluck. Cause I'm 99.99999% sure they're black in 99.99999% of cars.

AW607 03-19-2014 07:05 PM

I bought a similar black chrome kit like that but with fewer pieces.. it's a decent deal, but I thought some of the molded slots for the sockets made taking pieces out excruciating :fuuuuu: I haven't lost any yet so I'm good on that end haha

RevYouUp 03-19-2014 07:22 PM

Which location is this at? Does anyone know if the Richmond locations have them? I'll probably be picking up a set tmr.

edit: NVM, there's an inventory counter on the Canadian tire website. There's currently 7 in stock at the Steveston Location and 5 at the No.3 Road location if anyone is wondering.

I bought this set a few months ago, rattle canned them bright red. Problem solved.

Yodamaster 03-19-2014 08:51 PM

How are you people losing your black sets so easily?

I still have 98% of my set, and it was bought four years ago, they've been used in more dark/awkward jobs than you could shake a stick at.

maksimizer 03-19-2014 09:28 PM

Its like playing tennis Yodamaster, you swear you hit the birdie right in the middle of your racket, but in reality it went right throught.

Just like you placed your socket on your magnetized bowl, and in reality now its somewhere to never be found. (Or you find it x hours later)

That's why you're the fucking Yodamaster, I buy a new set of tools once a year and within 6 months everything is fuckin' gone, man

12 sets, no 8, 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21 sockets. :troll:

Time to buy a pre-80's American car.

I swear I've purchased probably a dozen individual 10, 12, 17 and 21 sockets and wrenches over the years. They all seem to keep disappearing.

:okay:

meme405 03-19-2014 09:56 PM

I have so many mis-matched sockets, and ratchets and stuff in cases all over. Mastercraft, Mac, snap-on, craftsman, etc.

Although I just want to buy a new set, I feel like I should just buy a nice set of racks and organize what I already have. I swear I have double's and triples of everything but its all just piled in cases (all hand me down stuff, from uncles and my dad who spent years collecting tools).

The one full set I know I will always have is the trailer hitched to our company truck, has a full snap on case filled with a complete mechanics set of snap-on tools. There is like $50k+ in that box. Unfortunately that trailer is pretty well just a jobsite dick measuring contest. So it hardly ever gets used.

At least you guys get a Snap On truck. We only have MAC tools in our area :fuuuuu:

fliptuner 03-19-2014 09:59 PM

I have a bunch of new spares cause if I find one at the wreckers or someone at work gives up on a cracked socket, I chuck them in a tub and make an annual trip to CT/Sears for replacements.

meme405 03-19-2014 10:05 PM

The other really good way is to hit up washington and hit up a few estate sales, or garage sales. I used to go when I visited family down in port angeles (old person retirement town mostly). I bought a decent size snap on box with lots of the basic tools for like 25 bucks.

Once I cleaned it up I could have turned around and sold just the empty box for quadruple that.

godwin 03-19-2014 10:06 PM

Not anymore and not for sets.. most CT needs receipt and bring in the whole freaking set to replace one damage parts. PITA.
