All of the above recommended cars are great, if I had 7k lying around for a "fun" car I'd definitely turbo a NA miata.

Ontop of that, as I said the car's named are great choices but don't expect to get it looking like the ones in some of the pictures for under 7k :lawl:

Hmm... :considered:

~4k for car (negotiate) and 3k for maintenance/mods?

lol @ 4 door e46 bmw's. im not looking for a dd. this is for a toy car that i just want to enjoy on weekends etc and whenever i have time to just rip around in. i have a really nice dd already.. im a gear head at heart and its honestly tearing me up inside that i dont have a car i can just toy with/take on cruises. i also have no issues with doing the maintenance myself unless the parts are impossible to find or cost a fortune..

oh and as mentioned before, im a big boy... 6ft tall 260lbs.. NO MIATAS.

I too found the Miata cramped. Other than that it's a pretty fun car.

02 WRX? :troll:

Seriously though they're pretty fun, and if you want something that has power you can swap in a bigger turbo and go from there :P Not too hard to make power out of these. Other than that, r32/r33 gtt or gt-s are pretty good options too. Always wanted one of those, and it seems like it's not too hard to make power from them too

Seeing as I have friends that owned (and complained constantly) about their 944 Turbo, FD RX-7, Corrado and Jaguar XJS, I would have to agree.

Its all about how it was treated, how you treat it, and plain old dumb luck. Either way though, you aren't getting a 944 turbo for under 7k, so it doesn't necessarily correlate with that list.
