"You can speed but you can't hide" - Man behind bars after 180-km/hr joyride OMG C63 Lower Mainland man behind bars after 180-km/hr joyride through Richmond, New Westminster A Lower Mainland man is behind bars after he allegedly sped into Richmond at speeds of up to 180 km/hr this weekend. The man, who is in his mid-20s, was arrested after a white 2012 Mercedes C 63 was seen crossing the Alex Fraser Bridge on Highway 91 northbound at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. RCMP helicopter Air One followed the car and watched as the driver entered Richmond and then turned around, heading back east on the highway at speeds of 150-160 km/hr. Officers with the Deas Island RCMP arrested the driver before he could cross back over the bridge. He was found to be in breach of a conditional sentence order and was taken into custody. “It’s extremely dangerous to drive at that speed. Even though it’s 1 in the morning, it’s still extremely dangerous,” RCMP spokesman Cpl. Robert McDonald said. “There’s no need for that kind of speed, and especially with Air One, there’s nowhere to hide.” The suspect is set to appear in court today. Any witnesses to the incident are asked to call Deas Island RCMP at 604-946-2184. |

Depends where, but 160 kph isn't very dangerous at all. Driving past the 176th Avenue exit on Highway #1 traffic hits 140-150 on the regular there. |

He was found to be in breach of a conditional sentence order and was taken into custody. Would he be arrested if he didn't have a breach? Posted via RS Mobile |
Not sure if driving without due care is a criminal offence - if so, then yes. |
Lols I suppose it's assumed here, but the C and A lettered words typically incite more public sentiment about the story Posted via RS Mobile |

A little speeding is excusable especially with conditions (1:30 am, dry road, no one else around for miles) but 160km/h seems a bit much. For a short burst of speed? Perhaps. But the fact they watched him speeding the entire way there AND back would show no intent on just a quick blast Posted via RS Mobile |
I guess the impound lot will be auctioning out a 2012 C63 now. |

it's not like he was going 160 on 50 zone. also they're raising highway speed limit, aren't they? |

He got arrested because of his "breach of a conditional sentence order" and is appearing in court because of said "breach". When was the last time you appeared in court the following week after a speeding ticket. |
JEFFIELD MAK??? :troll: i dont think he still drives a c63 tho |

160 is cruising speed on the Coquihalla! If he was driving 160 in a 50 zone he should get jail though. |

According to RS, highways in BC are basically all equal to the Nürburgring. Cool. |
