Both look extremely disengaging to drive

Push a few buttons, hold down the gas pedal, just point it straight. You don't even have to shift!

Now your grandmother could run a high 10 second quarter mile without a sweat... ZZZZzzzzzz...

So you are going to prescribe you universal picker upper? ie needs a Ford Mustang + T5 swap?

The new 991 Turbos are beasts, Nissan definitely better step up it's game with the R36. In fairness though, the R35 is becoming a dated platform, with not much in the way of change in the past 3-4 years. What I do like is that it forced some of the other manufacturers to step up their game to compete with it, which is great. Competition breeds good cars.

There is a reason that aircooled porsches, old bmws, nsx's, etc are going up in value. The ability to get a raw driving experience is disappearing faster than ever in the spreadsheet laptimes race.

The only driving aid I believe in is anti-lock brakes

GTS has NEVER been king of the strip.
When an alpha 2000 still cant run with a Supra they are not king.
Epics car, but no king of the strip.

R36? I don't think so for awhile. Every year they are making changes adding more more and they have not even released the Nismo edition yet.

GS8 04-16-2014 08:15 PM

I'd still take one of these over both the Nissan & Porsche

The R36 is probably still a few years away, but rumour is it'll appear sooner than the 2018 they were initially aiming for. My guess is precisely because the competition caught up and in some cases surpassed.

The EBA (2015 USDM) revision was supposedly going to feature a host of upgrades, but it was quite disappointing. They really haven't made any big changes - read engine, transmission, significant car design - since the release of the R35. They always talk about "revised suspension" and things like that, but in all honesty it's trivial. Even the DBA's HP bump was the result of simply turning up the boost. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic car, but the time has come for some more "substantial revisions" to the base car, or better yet a new generation.

The NISMO will make for a quick car, but good luck buying one given so few will be made. Plus, for an apples to apples comparison, you can't really put the Turbo Cab up against it. They really should have taken the larger turbos and subsequent hp bump and suspension tuning and added it to the base model, minus the egregiously expensive aero bits and the like.

I've been preaching this mentality for a long time, speed is becoming a dull prospect in this day and age. People look at me like I'm a serial killer when I say i'd remove the power steering, abs, launch control, and stability control systems from a new sports car if I got one.

There is nothing like feeling the road, I don't feel like paying for a playstation on wheels. I'm praying that Nissan re-evaluates the Z program as a car built for fun rather than lap times.

meh, GT-R is still faster around the Nurburgring.

and they should've tested with this GT-R 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo priced from $149,990* [w/videos] - Autoblog

Fuck spreadsheet racing

Mike5.0 cammer 04-17-2014 06:02 AM

At the end of the day if you look at used cars classic or modern, import or domestic people want a manual trans over an automagic. If they take that option away they just hurt the cars resale value

Not to mention you're SOL if your newer car runs into issues on the track. I'd rather be fixing an older, simpler car than something that requires a multi thousand dollar scan tool just to diagnose.
