Mounting Brackets On Stock Radio

Is there any way to take these mounting brackets off? I need to re-use them for an aftermarket stereo. I tried unscrewing it with a Philip screwdriver and it's completely stuck. Called the dealership for OEM parts, they are charging me $50 for 2 brackets, which is really $3 worth of material. A complete ripoff.

If there is a solution, that'd be awesome, otherwise, I'd have pay up.

Thanks!

So the brackets are screwed on (not spot welded), you just can't get them off?

Are you using the largest screwdriver that fits? Have you tried using a ratchet/socket with a Phillips head?

I've re-used stock brackets on a lot of Toyotas when I worked in car audio some *mumble mumble* years ago... some of them the screws were pretty tight. Might actually need to use an impact driver to get them loose.

It's screwed on, not by hand for sure. Ive already wrecked 2 of the screws while trying to get them loose with a Philip screwdriver. These things are freaking tight.

Or just drill the heads off and then put new screws in with the new deck. Just make sure they're not too long.

Hit the screwdriver down into the screw a couple of times with a hammer and they should come off with some force.

Hey guys, so I put the head unit together, and for some reason, the radio isn't working. It's not getting any signals from both AM and FM stations. I am confident that I have connected all of the required connectors. Below is a pic to illustrate the connectors that I've used to connect to my new head unit via wire harness.

I believe in the pic one is the antenna, the other is the power connector.

You need to connect the blue wire from the harness to the blue wire of the new deck. Chances are, it is a powered antenna.
