trucker / logging roads.. squamish / whistler / abbotsford

in vanocuver... 99% someone will call the cops and you're done.
and even if there is... it's pretty secretive.

2021 - 2022 It is prohibited to hunt or discharge a firearm or bow in a BC Park within 400 metres of either side of the centre line of any park road or highway except as authorized by a park officer, unless otherwise stated in this synopsis for a
specific road. A park road is a road in a park or recreation area that is designated and developed for licensed motor vehicles.

It is unlawful to discharge a firearm or
hunt within the road allowances of all
numbered highways and any two lane or
greater public road in BC that is maintained
by the Ministry of Transportation (or their
Contractors), the federal government or
another province or territory.The road
allowance extends:
( a) 15 metres on either side of the middle of
a road with less than three lanes, or
( b) 15 metres from the edge of the paved
s u rface of a highway with three lanes or
m o r e, or

( c) to the boundary of private or cultivated
land, whichever comes first.
In addition to the above universal restriction,
several major or heavily populated
routes in the province have an additional
400 m area bordering the road allowance
in which the discharge of a firearm using a
single projectile is prohibited.The discharge
of a shotgun using shot only is permitted.
These areas are listed in the section “400 m
Single Projectile Prohibited Areas”.

300+ more banned firearms Dec 6

https://www.canada.ca/en/public-safe...n-control.html

Good job politicians..........
Maybe ban cigarettes and fast food chains next to actually reduce death rates

underscore 12-12-2024 09:02 AM

Same as before, there's a few actual bans and then a bunch of fluff that I'm pretty sure you couldn't legally own before anyways. The 2020 list had a grenade launcher in it.

Like this is the third thing on the new list, a Browning M2. The next one down is the same thing modified to go in a plane.

There's a Gepard GM6 Lynx anti-materiel rifle in the list too. This was already banned under the 10k joule category last time too, so double-banned.

So the buyback is taking shape with the Pilot now. The most troubling thing assuming you plan to comply is that the money allocated is the money allocated meaning once they run out of money you ain't getting anything. Still early, or late depending on how you look at it so hopefully they realize that's dumb.

Does anyone here own anything on the list?

roastpuff 10-07-2025 04:13 PM

Yes and I'm not handing it in. I think the buyback - especially for the stuff that's previously NR and now banned - is them trying to figure out what you have.

Yea I have 2 ARs that are on the list and from a purely financial point of view im getting approx almost double back compared to what I paid but that's not the norm with the list.

I'm really all for gun rights and yes fuck them I ain't giving my shit back but there are really only a few options.

1. Give it for money
2. Pay $500 or however much it costs for a gun smith to deactivate the gun
3. Do nothing and be a "criminal"
4. Give it for free

I ain't forking out hundreds to deactivate it, and keeping it does nothing for me if I cant use it. I ain't balling enough between getting $3000 back vs nothing just to stick it to them. Having said that if the choice was between 3 and 4 I may not choose 4 because that's also pretty stupid.

roastpuff 10-08-2025 11:52 PM

Considering it's rolling out East to West and they've only budgeted $742 million (of which some already went to businesses and a TON already went to admin costs) I doubt we in BC will see anything.

underscore 10-09-2025 09:15 AM

Yeah I was curious what their prices are vs market rates but nobody I knew had anything on the list. It's kinda weird to have a fixed budget when they're not allowing everyone to do it at the same time, but for those in BC with stuff they don't want to give up maybe it'll mean the whole thing folds before it gets here anyways and being ignored by Ontario will be a benefit for once lol.

winson604 10-09-2025 10:56 AM

Yea the list is pretty wack I'm definitely in the minority where I have 2 inexpensive AR's being offered higher than retail/market which I'm not convinced at this point I'd even get anything back. Pretty much nobody gives a shit about this other than gun owners. The average citizen doesn't know shit about this nonsense and the minute they hear the word guns automatically just have a reaction. So I wouldn't be surprised if not enough noise is made about this and we'll just be screwed over again.
