I wonder what the insurance guy would say.

SpuGen 04-22-2014 04:03 AM

They're idiot-proofing burnouts now?

Booooo

z3german 04-22-2014 08:21 AM

As if actual drag racers dont know how to burn out...

Mustang you knew you put it in there solely for those fresh licensed, daddy and mommy bought my car fucks.

westopher 04-22-2014 08:34 AM

Remember that time I said new mustangs were actually really awesome? Well that ends with the 2014 model. How fucking retarded.

underscore 04-22-2014 08:40 AM

A factory installed feature that's illegal to use on the street and voids your warranty if you use it on a closed track. Brilliant.

Gumby 04-22-2014 09:00 AM

This is Ford's way of saving on warranty coverage!

Tone Loc 04-22-2014 09:14 AM

Great. As if we need to make it easier for people (who I can almost guarantee will be spoiled new drivers who don't need more reasons to be morons) to hoon around and do stupid shit on public roads.

And don't tell me that it's "track use only"... lettuce be cereal here, if a person is at a race track, it's more than likely that he/she already knows how to do a proper burnout without stupid driver aids.

GS8 04-22-2014 10:53 AM

When it doubt, tune it out.

Especially shit like this that caters to dyno queens everywhere.

dared3vil0 04-22-2014 11:25 AM

Maybe i'm happy i got a '14...

Anyone else see a repeat of early '09 GTR's lawsuit regarding launch control voiding warranty, just this time with line lock?

Gucci Mane 04-22-2014 11:33 AM

lol this is actually genius from fords perspective. every time the feature is used it gets logged on the computer and when someone brings the car in for warranty repair for X reason they can tell that person to get fucked.

i'm meh about this feature. line locks are cheap anyways..

thumper 04-22-2014 12:14 PM

isn't this is sort of like how using launch control on a gt-r used to void the warranty until nissan changed their policy?

Soundy 04-22-2014 01:37 PM

Ford.... :fulloffuck:

Ford_Fanatic 04-22-2014 03:51 PM

You guys realize the purpose of line-loc isn't to allow noobs to do burnouts, it's to save the rear brakes from overheating while you do a burnout.

Drag racers have been using it on their cars for ages.

hud 91gt 04-22-2014 05:00 PM

^Finally.

Comments by people stating, drag racers know how to do real burnouts :concentrate:

All I know is, this is going to make rental mustangs fun as hell.

I thought it was promoting bad driving when they included a G-meter/0-60 timer/ quarter mile timer in the 2013 mustangs, this is gonna be awesome (in a terrible, raising your insurance premiums kinda of way)

Phil@rise 04-22-2014 07:38 PM

My car doesnt need line lock to toast tires hehehe

vitaminG 04-22-2014 07:44 PM

feature is sponsored by goodyear

also going down the dragstrip in and of itself wont void your warranty, as long as you are not technically "racing" anyone. just like doing a driver education at a track wont void your warrarnty but racing against others will

No it won't. Mykey takes away all the fun. I rented a 2013 mustang GT last year and speed was limited to 130km/h. Also could not turn off traction control and radio volume was also limited.

Depends on the rental agency you get

At my work, all fords we own = My key enabled (let's say ~10% of cars)
All fords we lease/have ford buyback programs = No my key = tire roasting and general douchebaggery

But IIRC on the mustang you can enable mykey if it isn't enabled and cripple the car for all subsequent renters

Volvo-brickster 04-22-2014 08:21 PM

Ford + warranty don't belong in the same sentence.

Unless you throw in "void" or "denied"

Yes, im speaking from experience.

That's great if you're on the track but serves no purpose for the 99.9% that will never see the strip. Not to mention strip vs. street surface and street vs. drag tires.

Great68 04-22-2014 09:34 PM

So many people bitching about an option for a car that many here will never own...

Geoc 04-22-2014 10:10 PM

Still better than what Honda is doing to their cars.

Is this not a car forum? Do we not critique the choices made on many new cars that we will never own?

:suspicious:

fliptuner 04-22-2014 10:16 PM

inb4 Z/28 comes out w/ line-lock and trans brake :troll:
