I have, and I don’t know what the comparison is supposed to be. I felt more of a neck-snap at WOT in a number of cars than in a jet when the burners lit. There isn’t a crazy sense of acceleration.

I could be wrong, but I was thinking it had more to do with the sound

As an aside, Yamaha really needs to pick better parnters for their projects??? I mean 2 of the full-out engines they've designed that I am aware of have gone into a Volvo and the 89-95 Taurus SHO.......

Both brilliant looking/sounding engines... in what are pretty much a shit chassis. Especially the Taurus (I can say it with confidence and without prejudice, I owned a 94 5-spd).

Toyota’s 1ZZ-FE and 2ZZ-GE in the late-90s through mid-00s. Also Toyota’s 3S-GE from the early-90s IIRC.

^ Just the head on those engines though I think...

The LFA I'm pretty sure Yamaha was only involved in the exhaust note???

As for the Taurus SHO... brilliant engine, sounded so awesome when the secondaries opened up (kind of a ghetto form of VTEC) and made huge power at the time for a NA 3.0L (220hp conservatively estimated) but the transmission was absolute trash, some Mazda truck unit with a french Valeo clutch setup... and the handling/general aesthetics of the 90's Taurus left much to be desired.

I did take it to Mission once and destroy some Preludes and Integras haha I don't think they were too happy about it.

Yamaha co-developed the motor.

The 3S-GE was from the 80's, I had one in my 1987 Celica. From my understanding they did the head and then helped out with the rest of the engine. I know at least the G heads they did such a good job on it that guys have spent tons of time porting and polishing and gaining basically nothing lol.

Everything about that car has potential up until you realize he took a fuel injected LS2 and converted it to a carburetor. That is absolutely full retard - this is 2019, why would you do that? Instant fail.

LS2's displacement isn't even 5.3

It's 6.0

It’s not converted. It’s called simplifying. One of the hardest parts of a swap is the electrical. Carbing the engine bypasses that completely. Not the best scenario for economy but their is certainly nothing wrong with carbed engines. Just a little weird.

Same with the V8 powered Volvo's from the 2000's.

And on that note, if you want a reasonably priced S60 Polestar there's this one with 1800kms. Sure, it is 55k but with the package and mileage VMR values it between 50 and 55k. Considering it probably still has a warranty that's probably the best, least risky way to get one.

Despite what the ad says, I don't claim any validity of it being comparable to an RS4, BMW M car etc.

It's not an LS2. More than likely just an LM4 (5.3, Al, vortec). He would've been better off swapping to a stock LS intake and TB.

Takes a special buyer to pick this up, but it is a phonemonally good buy:

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...8669657227905/

1994 BMW 325is Endurance Race Car
Cdn $9000
race-prepped with the whole shebang

I know the owner/builder personally, and he is the type that will not cheap out on anything. This is literally as turnkey as a race car can get.

- 2011 BMW 328i xDrive Touring (Wagon)
- 6 speed manual, iDrive navigation, heated seats/steering wheel
- One owner, no accidents
- Roof rack, box, extra set of winter wheels/tires
- 123k km
- $13,500

This is a relatively good buy if you are in the market for a vehicle like this!

A decently powerful, AWD, manual wagon ticks all the boxes in the needs columns for me, and it's not even overly heavy. Are cars like that actually fairly sporty or just sporty "for what it is"?

If it drives anything like my old E90 LCI with the same motor albeit automatic, they're quite sporty, not just "for what it is". Although the same can't be said for the E93 I currently drive, it's a pig, especially with an extra 450lbs worth of roof and all associated mechanisms.

I agree on going fuel inj, cheaper to stay fuel injection and can easily add a turbo. But, if you don't care about drive-ability and fuel economy the carb always make more naturally aspirated horsepower than fuel injection, been proven time and time again. But then again the carb has to be setup, if he gets the carb wrong it will be bad. Stick with the plug and play gm ecm.
