Was pretty good but I hate all the young versions of the villains that seem to be thrown in there just because, i get its a pilot and they probably felt they needed to but ugh made it seem a bit cheesy

and i am so far not a fan of Alfred, i like Sean Pertwee but not as Alfred nor how he portrays him a bit too thuggish

The actor for Bullock is cool too but I don't like that he was partnered up with Gordon right away there's a cool story line with Gordons first partner that they borrowed for the pilot and it'd work better if it wasn't Bullock imo but that's just me being a bit too picky

I can't buy into "Ryan from the OC" or Alfred's character. I really dig the cinematography and sets though. More gritty than I would have expected so that is a plus. I'd say the casting is the only thing that suffers at this point. Will keep watching though.

The young cat woman was annoying me. I think there was this scene where she was perched on a gravestone. Like get the hell off there. That's some dead guy's memorial you're standing on. I'm just nitpicking. I just can't get into network television.

murd0c 09-26-2014 10:39 AM

It was the first episode and they had to toss in those characters to show us where the show could actually go. I just hope it stay's dark but being a network show I can see that changing

jeedee 09-26-2014 11:06 AM

Wow just realized Gotham teased us with this guy as the Joker?

Interested in seeing a young Mr Freeze

DanHibiki 09-26-2014 12:17 PM

^whoa never realized that. So he's like what. 10-15 years older than Bruce then?

Yup around those numbers.

It's a bit weird seeing these "younger" versions of the characters :lol

white rocket 09-26-2014 02:06 PM

Interesting about the "Joker" stand-up comedian guy. Didn't catch that reference the first time around.

I couldn't quite tell the era of the setting. Is it modern day? Or is it supposed to be the "past"? Like the 60's or 70's or something?

If they're showing younger versions of every character it obviously isn't modern day dude :lol

I'm guessing around the 80s or so

punkwax 09-26-2014 02:35 PM

Pilot was decent.. some bad overacting going on but I find that happens a lot before people really sink into their characters. Will watch again to see how things progress.

You'd think so but since I didn't see any reference points(cars, media, social markings, etc) it's hard to tell. Also, since there have been several versions of Batman in the movies throughout the years it's hard to tell when "back in the day" would be.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Gotham is trying to be a prequel of any Batman movie?

I think they're just "showing" the early years of the characters when they were younger.

murd0c 09-26-2014 03:23 PM

I think this is modern day but with just young character's kinda like what happened with Smallville

white rocket 09-26-2014 03:27 PM

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought. Just wasn't sure what was implied.

PiuYi 09-26-2014 03:38 PM

they're driving around in 1980's cars and using post-2000's cellphones.... so it's a toss up

I noticed that too.

I think they're just going the Archer route when it comes to determining what year it is. :lol

hi-revs 09-26-2014 04:52 PM

pilot was pretty good. I'll be following it.
Crazy how they exposed so many to-be-villians in just one episode though...

Wonder if theyll speed up the timeline and let us see Bruce Wayne grow up to be Batman or not. But if they do, then i assume the series may end...?

It was fine for me IMO. Seeing the younger versions of the villains grabbed my attention

Thats IF FOX doesn't FUCKIN CANCEL IT AFTER ONE SEASON................

SkinnyPupp 09-26-2014 06:29 PM

I think the era is supposed to be ambiguous, which is really cool

yogenfruz 09-26-2014 07:46 PM

^ It makes sense. There's never been a "set time period" for Batman; it's always evolved with the real world. I'm assuming that based on the vehicles and settings, it's based around the "mid to late 80's", but with modern day technology as well.

duy- 10-01-2014 11:40 AM

im getting a bit of a steampunk feel from the series. clothes, cars, and random tidbits from the 60s with modern day tech

You're totally right. They have done a great job to ensure that it is viewed that way as well. Now I'm pretty into it. Once I started viewing it as fantasy instead of how it relates to real life it got way better. I have warmed up to McKenzie as Gordon. Definitely has potential to be a good show. Now that I'm into it I'm afraid it'll get cancelled. LOL!

Their plan for the rest of the season is actually to tease everyone and introduce a new background character who could eventually be the joker, so expect to see a clown or a random guy with a giant grin in future episodes.

red_2 10-02-2014 08:28 PM

im feelin this show

Tim Budong 10-06-2014 10:36 PM
