go here: Vancouver Impreza Club Forum -- VIC - NASIOC but do a search on that board first because i think it's been asked before... |
I loved dealing with Tom at Docksteader Subaru when I was close to getting a BRZ. Absolutely no pressure tactics, I'll definitely give him a chance at my business if I'm ever in the market for a Subaru in the future. |
How about a 2009 S5? Your list: -Either a V8 (naturally aspirated) or Factory boost, whether supercharged or turbocharged doesn't matter. - Check - V8 NA -6 speed manual, i will not consider an auto. - Check - 6 speed manual -a LSD, i won't buy something with an open dif. - Check - Electronic LSD -Has to be a well thought out, well appointed interior. - Check - -Budget is same as what a new Mustang GT would cost, (41k out the door, including taxes fees etc) - Check - below 41k Autotrader: Used Audi S5 ? Canada |
I don't think any VAG car, especially a performance model audi could be considered very reasonably cheap to run though. Owning one out of warranty could be a scary experience or an amazing one. Thats the thing with VAG, its like playing craps. |
In all honesty i think at this point i've narrowed it down to an STi or the Mustang- I will test drive all 3 though (wrx) and report back! Although if anyone knows of a good subi dealer/salesperson lmk! |
I deal with Wolfe Subaru with no complaints. I've heard good things about Don Docksteader as well. |
Oh... Oh my... I test drove a 2015 STi today... :megusta: |
congrats, and welcome to the club.. soon? lol :) |

you probably know this already but STi's are terrible in fuel economy... if you are planning on DD'ing it. The wrx gets way better mileage. |

LOL the STi rated at 12.8l/100km combined, Mustang GT is identical. |
I've been reading this thread (again) And can honestly say I feel like selling my G8 and getting something else. It's at 98,000km and 80% of its suspension is toast. It's currently getting rebuilt with aftermarket (good) parts but I really don't feel like looking at the car, let alone driving it.... Might have to do some exploring. -- Sorry for the hijack -- |
Carry on! Not a problemo! On another note, i'm roughly 70% STi 30% GT right now. Couple reasons; -AWD with 3 LSD's (:megusta:) going to be EPIC on whistler/baker/big white trips, awesome for Vancouver's rainy winters. -Resale! STi's are incredible value holder's. -Buddy of mine mentioned a very good point, what's more of a cop magnet? A brightly colored Mustang GT (which i inevitably would put a REALLY loud exhaust on, because V8) or a 4 door sedan? (base STi is wingless! WIN!) There's a reason "Race Red" on a Mustang is known as "Arrest-me Red" :lawl: Also, the Mustang's MT-82 is known as a finnicky, generally shitty transmission. Especially when temps are below 10c. Not fun to deal with a trans that doesn't like to go into gear at 7AM on a cold, rainy December morning. At this point I think i'm justifying the extra $5,000 an STi costs. |

But, to be honest and quite surprisingly, no tickets yet of any kind for my Misano red after 24,000km. For sure, let us know what you are going to get and post some pics. |
How the hell do you drive to be able to notice LSD's going to Big White? |
No, the AWD is what i'd notice. The 3 LSD's are always nice to have for deep snow situations, and with such a capable car you may just see me at a track or two... |
