94 Octane gas only avail at Chevron?

Is Chevron the only gas stn that offers 94 octane? I heard Husky/Mohawk does but their website show nothing in the lowermainland when I put in the search criteria with 94 Octane.

snails 05-16-2014 09:07 AM

yes, chevron is the only one. asides that i think super save carries 92 or 93? i forget

FatalCloud 05-16-2014 09:37 AM

yes only chevron, husky used to carry it but stopped... almost 2 years ago?

Traum 05-16-2014 09:59 AM

IIRC, Petro Canada and Husky both cited low demands as their reasons to discontinue the 94 octane stuff.

i wish that wasnt the case.. my car is tuned on 94, high comp and boost.. i cant fck around with lower octain levels now.. so when going for long cruises i gotta plan when i can get to a chevron :(

Timpo 05-16-2014 10:24 AM

91 Octane is good enough for most cars out there.
McLaren P1, Bugatti Veyron, LaFerrari, Pagani Zonda, even Nissan GT-R, they all require only 91 octane.

But I have heard about some modded high revving Honda engines had to be detuned by Hondata ECU to make it run-able with 91 octane...so I don't know.

Thanks for the replies, saved me from going out of my way to a Husky station.

Just pick up a bottle of octane booster, and keep it in your car if you know you're going on a long cruise/to the states/etc.

Retune your car for 91. Chevron is only in B.C. maybe one in Alberta.

Actually, that's what I would recommend as well. Or maybe have a couple of tunes that you can readily switch between. I know we all love power, but if the available octane grade is limiting where you can take your car to, continuing to use a higher octane tune doesn't make sense to me.

trust me i want too, but i doubt im getting away with it when i go for my retune, im turning the boost up and im already at 11.8:1 comp

:alone:

good thing these engines are nearly free

:heckno:

I've never used it either, but I'm just thinking more as an emergency 'fix' if you're stuck?

Belaud, I was just throwin' out other options that might help in a pinch, you cheeky kent.

IMASA 05-16-2014 02:00 PM

Run methanol injection and stop having to worry about our shitty 94 octane.

FatalCloud 05-16-2014 02:23 PM

^right :rukidding: and meth is so much better for our engines too

snails 05-16-2014 02:26 PM

^ lots of guys have water/meth setup to run when there is heavy load or high rpm to keep temps down so its there for safety when beating on the car

these kits come with their own tanks, lines and top into the intake manifold.. not much harm done by these things UNLESS they are tuned to make the most power possible on water/meth.. then you drive hard on an empty tank of water/meth.

i wouldnt mind a setup like that.. one day

BBMme 05-16-2014 02:46 PM

I'm so happy I don't have to run 94. Adds up

yeah, but it can pay off.. more power can = more efficientcy

more efficiency = less gas

of course 91-94 wont make a huge power difference with a slightly more aggressive tune but i came from NA high comp tuned on 91 getting about 430km/tank average - 2x the power on boost, 94 ocatain but im now getting 450km/tank with simulare driving habits. if im nice to it or do alot of hwy driving i can easily see up to 550 a tank

plus 94 smells sooooo good :D its almost worth paying more just for that

:woot2:

kross9 05-16-2014 04:59 PM

dont forget you save like 7 cents / Liter at chevron with a saveon card and plus + points for free food!

skiiipi 05-16-2014 11:03 PM

In Alberta lots of Petro Canada have "ultra 94" gas which is 94 octane

Mlouis 05-17-2014 03:27 PM

If you go to the states, get the US 92. The US 92 octane is superior to our chevron 94 octane. I'm tuned on both CAD chevron 94 and US 92. The US 92 allowed my tuner to run more aggressive timing than the CAD 94 tune.

threezero 05-17-2014 03:39 PM

usa 92 has ethanol, 94 chev in canada does not?

Yup, I agree. Chevron 94 octane lets me run timing similar to what others using Cali 91 gas run. US 92 is far superior than our 94.
