How can insurance be no concern at all when your car is only worth $3.5K? If he has set a budget for his car, I hope he includes insurance as it's a big part of his overall cost!

The Prelude will have higher insurance and fuel costs as it's a 2 door and takes 91. Does he have other money set aside or is this all the free cash he has? I recommend everyone to only spend about 75-80% of their budget on the car to keep some cash free for any surprises that may show up. For starters you'll usually want to replace most or all of the fluids in the car which is a couple hundred bucks depending on how you do it.

You can get an 05 Ford Focus for around $1500. Good reliable car and you can put the rest of the money towards insurance.
