IWE Rear Ends Only reviews?

Has anyone had a good/bad experience there? Looking to have some work (A Re-gear) done and wanted some personal experiences. There's a thread on here from 2012 regarding the same thing, but a lot can change at a shop in two years...

Thanks.

Not anymore, i posted it a shit ton of times, after i've autocrossed it a few times the last thing i need is more power (i.e a GT) it needs suspension, gears etc.

Ohhh haha, nah i'll get back into the Jeeping thing eventually, enjoying the current car too much at the moment lmao.

Going from 2.73's to 3.73's. Should have a LOT more get up and go!

Why not 4.10?

I just went from 3.45 small case diff to a 3.91 medium case diff, first couple gears feel much stronger!

Have you thoroughly researched this? I am certainly no expert or even very experienced on the matter, but that seems like quite a leap.

How much will other facets suffer from this big of a step?

3.73's are a factory option on the GT's, with the same transmission. It IS quite a leap, and i have done the research, quite a few people actually go from 2.73/3.31/3.73 (factory options) to 4.10's or 4.56's depending on tire sizes!

For what it's worth, I've had two sets of gears done by IWE but not in the last four years.

They fixed a major screw up by another shop on my Jeep and they put 4.56's in my Dakota.

Both times they had good prices and great work.

You gonna upgrade the rubbish driveshaft with those gears?

Yup, the sorry excuse for a stock driveshaft is going in the garbage.

Likely a 4 or 5 speed transmission, which is why the longer gears were needed to retain highway cruising.

I only know they've been around forever and they know their stuff. As mentioned above, Ian (Ian Wood Engineering) is deeply involved in the local racing scene (has been for 30+ years) and that alone should be reason to support him.

edit: totally forgot I bought some used Porsche wheels from them ages ago and they were awesome to deal with.

my shop sublets all its rear end works (domestics) to iwe. they know their stuff! I think they only work on domestic vehicles though, last I heard, they don't take in European vehicles for repairs.

IWE is awesome. They have been for many years, and their reputation is solid for a reason.

That said, I went with Gears and Rears in Port Kells when I posi'd my Tundra. They did a stellar job, and even got me the part for a little less than my online price.

So I went with them again when I added an Eaton posi to my 67' Beaumont's 10 bolt rear end. Again, they did a stellar job. You should be happy with either shop.

So I dropped the car off this morning to have the gears done, good experience so far. They just called me to update me on the progress, and confirm it will be ready at 4:00pm as promised. Will report back when I pick it up!
