I love this look - keep em coming. |
How about some modified Ducati L-Twins? http://i.imgur.com/yfgNTyK.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Zn4dLG1.jpg http://i.imgur.com/yuHAN2b.jpg http://i.imgur.com/7Omqiic.jpg |
Originally known as one of the ugliest bikes of the 80's. Apparently they're quite pretty underneath all their cheap plastic. The CX, Honda's first V twin. Quirky but unique in its own right. And for that reason I love it. -- I've spent many many hours musing over what bike I would choose if I could only have one, money being no object. Most times I end up concluding I need about five different ones (z3german knows this) but time and time again I see myself coming back to one bike... the Triumph Thruxton. This particular one was done up by some guys down in Portland, their name escapes me http://i.imgur.com/yGgyuXK.jpg http://i.imgur.com/bm74lAM.jpg |
mmm Thruxtons. Love their ergonomics. Probably one of the comfiest I've sat on next to the current GSXR 750 and Speed Triple. Pretty good resale value as well! Another atypical cafe platform, an inline-4 BMW K100: http://i.imgur.com/ENpq9uw.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/gd5cPOs.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/8MrNz9m.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/LDKPazo.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/dFYDdtD.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/vgQZKO2.jpg?1 |
Looks like the brake line goes through the steering stem, that's crazy! Wouldn't have ever thought of that to clean up the front end. |

The Tarantulas, 2007 Triumph Thruxon It took a couple weeks and... |
This bike just does it for me. Machine fetishism at its finest. Completely exposed. Clear covers. Gobs of torque. The American made Confederate Hellcat X132. http://i.imgur.com/PWXTGZ0.jpg?1 |

http://jmvdesign.ca/wp-content/uploa..._jmvdesign.jpg I did a future EV Cafe Racer thesis project sponsored by Zero Motorcycles at Art Center. I'm currently interning for them this summer and hopefully we can 3D print out a few components and work out a functioning one this year. |

I'd love to hear more about your concept design. Is there any particular reason you went with the horizontal upper swingarm based monoshock rather than a through the swingarm vertical with linkage setup? Any insight into challenges of designing around an electric engine rather than a standard petrol motor? |

The bike that makes me question everything in my life... Resto-mod perfection. These sell for about $40k in Japan. The AC Sanctuary RCM 253 (1980 CB 750F): http://i.imgur.com/GkDLYcB.jpg http://i.imgur.com/HEVLFK4.jpg moar here: RCM-253 / CB1100F |
Wow... that is just stunning. I don't usually like the 80s bikes with squarish tanks and that plastic around the tail but this one is amazingly put together. I can't get my eyes off those pie cut headers |
Those lobster cut headers almost seem unnecessary. But it's awesome |

Lunchtime bump! A blacked out bonneville. Seems like a pretty sweet chill reliable daily rider... http://i.imgur.com/vwdMGZl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/h2LvqxX.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wMEkoxd.jpg |
I love the wheel and tire setup tere |

My new obsession - the Triton. Norton frame + Triumph motor. All the rage in the 60s and 70s in the UK. The Triton was an effort by bike fans to develop a product to fill a hole in the market... the early "sport bike" if you will. A million different variables exist... all glorious and British. ;P http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...e_and_tank.jpg http://kickstart.bikeexif.com/wp-con...un-customs.jpg http://motorcyclephotooftheday.files...h070.jpg?w=627 http://motorcyclephotooftheday.files...pg?w=640&h=462 http://motorcyclephotooftheday.files...pg?w=640&h=366 |
1 Attachment(s) For you Airheads... Saw this pristine R100 with collectors plates on my way back from lunch. :sweetjesus: |
