Quebec to be the First Province to Ban Hellaflush

320icar 07-23-2014 11:52 PM

lol, french canadians...

duy- 07-24-2014 01:04 AM

well this is bullshit, what will they ban next? demon camber? tron style decals? eye lashes? people should be able to ruin their cars and rice it out how they want god damnit

6o4__boi 07-24-2014 07:17 AM

inb4 "but of course, dis ellaflush scene is an anglophone tool ruining the Quebecois identity." :lawl:

is this really surprising coming from Quebec

dared3vil0 07-24-2014 07:28 AM

Oh frenchies... You silly...

thumper 07-24-2014 07:29 AM

not really surprised. they've banned a lot of stuff over the years, like RHD imports for example. if you love cars, it's just another reason to leave.

meme405 07-24-2014 07:37 AM

It's hilarious that they actually went so far as to define the term, but in reality the fact that they banned this form of vehicle modification is not completely abnormal.

There is plenty of other places where the rim of your wheel cannot protrude past your fender, this basically achieves the same result, as what Quebec is saying.

I can see their point as well, ever been behind someone who has to crawl over speed bumps? Or wait 5 minutes before they can utilize both lanes to C-Walk their car over even the most minor road imperfections?

I usually laugh it off, cause I get the scene and its w/e to me, but I can certainly see how someone who is just trying to get out of the grocery store parking lot and get home might find it annoying to have to wait for some clown with his hat backwards and his pants sagging down to his knees to take off his front bumper so he can clear a speed bump.

Also it's not like that form of vehicle modification is legal anywhere else, even here in Van you can easily get a VI for something like that, and end up causing A LOT of hassle for yourself. Again the only difference with Quebec is the fact that they have actually gone so far as to define the problem, which is quite hilarious. Also I am impressed at how spot on their definition is.

SkinnyPupp 07-24-2014 07:39 AM

I had to google "hellaflush" and TBH I don't see how this can be considered safe

http://image.superstreetonline.com/f...c35-laurel.jpg

I can't speak authoritatively on the subject obviously, but yeah that looks... wrong... and in more ways than one

320icar 07-24-2014 08:38 AM

I don't think anyone on this website considers what you posted to be hellaflush

This is a much more accurate picture. Big difference

underscore 07-24-2014 08:46 AM

Fucking finally. "hellaflush" cars are sketchy due to the compromised handling and braking abilities, I'm not sure how anyone can argue that point.

boibuddha 07-24-2014 09:19 AM

I've visited Montreal numerous times over the last ~12 months, I have to agree with the government here due to the crummy conditions of their roads.

I was bouncing around all over the roads, regardless of the car I was driving (rentals ranging from Nissan Versa to Dodge Journey). Imagine Kingsway near the Victoria Drive area, but all over the city; that is what roads are like in the Montreal area.

The combination of bumpy roads and minimal car-tire clearances is almost asking for a tire blowout.

twitchyzero 07-24-2014 09:21 AM

the Quebec gov't must be homophobic for banning hella:gay:

E-SPEC 07-24-2014 09:31 AM

I wonder where the line is drawed between what is, and what is not? I suppose the lip of the wheel must not extend past the point of where the fender starts.

punkwax 07-24-2014 09:37 AM

^ drawn, bro.

What's next!? Mexi-poke?

http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0002_large.jpg

IMO, flush means flush and flush looks great. A lot of people call their rides flush when they're not. Grab a dictionary:

adv.
1. So as to be even, in one plane, or aligned with a margin.

underscore 07-24-2014 09:41 AM

Mexipoke is already illegal, you need flares and flaps if you're sticking out past the body.

SpuGen 07-24-2014 10:36 AM

I used to do the stance thing.

Then I bought a faster car and liked driving fast.

Nothing beats a 45 Series, sticky, stiff sidewall tire and a reasonable height. I still look good, and I don't need to crawl over every little thing. Train tracks and Speedbumps are another thing.

Boobs don't jiggle in my car as much anymore, but I love the extra bit of comfort on an already stiff car. Herrafrush street cred doesn't get you laid. A nice appearance and a clean interior, does.

And T-Tops. Extra headroom for bobbing and whatnot.

mj_39 07-24-2014 10:39 AM

In how they define hellaflush wouldn't that mean that almost everyone's car on this forum would be deemed illegal based upon 2 of the 3 terms?

Lowering the suspension of the vehicle
Installing oversized and offset wheels (offset greater than of the stock wheels)

I wouldn't be to quick in applauding Quebec...

Expresso 07-24-2014 10:45 AM

Where's the dead horse smiley when you need it.

underscore 07-24-2014 11:49 AM

A good quote from a Montreal forum for those complaining about "too many laws"

Quote:

I have NO problem with this law, for once.

This trend was fucking stupid, dangerous and useless since day one.

Laws are necessary when people are idiots.
They wouldn't have made this law if people didn't keep making their cars dangerous pieces of crap. They only "interfere" because the hellamorons forced them to by proving they were too stupid to do things properly on their own.

AWDTurboLuvr 07-24-2014 12:14 PM

When the roads are covered in snow 6 months of the year and afterwards, you're treated to this: http://road-problem-watch.caaquebec....9296.jpg?pic=1

Driving even a lowered car is a complete pain and you'll spend most of your time avoiding potholes.

MarkyMark 07-24-2014 12:24 PM

lol id hope the police would pull over any car that looks like any of those pics and tow it off the street ASAP

westopher 07-24-2014 12:58 PM

If you don't go over the top with it, its not like cops will likely ever notice. Its funny, all the people with their foreskin in a knot over it, are just drawing way more attention to it. Which means more people will recognize it, which means more people will get caught for it. If they just carried on doing it 99.9% of cops wouldn't even give the slightest fuck about it. There is tons of illegal shit we all do to our vehicles, and if you are herrafrush driving through richmond you are gonna get it as much as you would in quebec. Mums the word with certain laws, until a bunch of loudmouths turn things into an issue.

Grim 07-24-2014 03:12 PM

damn.. maybe i should sell my wheels before this rule applies over here...........

cooke24 07-24-2014 04:43 PM

hope it spreads to other provinces.

kkthind 07-24-2014 05:27 PM

I find that stretching your tires is fucking retarded, all I can think is how long it's going to take for your tire to blow. And having a car with excessive camber is fucking retarded, definitely a HOS car
