I can see how he abused substances remembering an interview from a long time ago.. he was all over the place.
Im 95% sure I saw him walking outside the Sheraton hotel in Vancouver some years ago... he had on really colourful clothes and shoes... I guess he wasnt shy of people recognizing and saying hi to him.
He was a great actor!

Sad to say this really wasn't too surprising when I heard the news. He always had substance abuse issues, multiple divorces and was pretty much broke having to file for bankruptcy about a year ago before having to return to TV for a paycheque just to get by. He just didn't seem in a good state of mind over the longest period of time.

apparently he went back to rehab in july. but also apparently has been sober since 2006 and checks into rehab every now and then to help stay sober.
