Everyone wants fame Fame = easy money and tons of sex with admirers I'm a complete fucking nobody but when girls are introduced to me after having read my book or hearing about me from someone else they generally drop their panties at the first chance 10k is a drop in the bucket for those people, but I guarantee that they just got a ton more followers and buzz around their names due to the charity In the jewish community they have a word for humble, good people, it is a "mensch" and those people would be ashamed to brag about donating to charity We live in a culture where if you don't brag, generally you won't build much of a brand or following Here is someone I am sure so many RS'ers look up to, and yes, he did an ice bucket challenge: Showing off money or your body, express route to fame |
I actually really don't like that dan guy.. I think he's the worst image of what a man should be. Womanizer and egotistic. No compassion or any mindfulness. Out with the old in with the new please and thanks. Also all these famous people have been challenged by another. What makes you think they're all doing it for more points in the fame bucket? The problem we have here is ego filled questions with ego filled answers. We see the good benifits of this yet here we are ignoring them and talking about the people rather than the subject of their actions |
Berz is up!!! |
you're really quiet :lol |
I know, I was going it was louder dammit |

If there are people who are trying to post these videos to further their own personal careers and wealth, so be it...there is nothing you nor I can do about that. It's a consequence of the viral media campaign which HAPPENS to be generating a LOT of money for the cause. Anyone abusing the challenge for personal gain isn't HURTING the cause...they are in a sense still helping it. I could waste my entire life looking all over the world for people to criticize but it would be a never ending task (which is why I just do it on RevScene.) But if someone is abusing this charity campaign, who cares? They're not hurting it and they're certainly not hurting you. LET THEM EAT CAKE. -------------------- Also, can you link me to your book? I'd love to purchase it... |
now this is a good video |

Hey I never said it was a bad thing! It went so viral because of the star power, and fame-seekers love, love, love to do anything that makes people pay attention to them and their projects. Bill Gates' did a great job on his and it is obvious from his other work with malaria that his intentions were pure. He is someone people should look up to and not Charlie Sheen or Dan Ballsberg. To admit to hipsterism is asking to be put in stocks and pillory, it is natural for me to dislike and poo-poo anything from the establishment. My close proximity to Main and Hastings definitely gives me a punk-anarchist vibe in my brain. I am often a dick but I have made peace with Jah and can accept that. Also, if you want a book I'd rather sell you a paperback in person! |
Kinda on topic, the co-founder of this challenge passed away by drowning. ALS ice bucket challenge co-founder Corey Griffin drowns, aged 27 - People - News - The Independent |
50 cent did the challenge and he nominates mayweather over his instagram, i don't know how to put the video in so just click the link to it Quote:

"fuck the bucket of ice!!" hahaha |
Lol props to the marketing geniuses in ALS So effective in getting funds for their research But im so sick of seeing that shit plattered everywhere... Just donate the money stop posting these gaylord vids i dont wanna see em no more Almost as gay as that kony shit a few years back /rant |
I normally hate these types of trends, but since it's raising awareness and definitely getting donations in, I don't mind it one bit. It's much better than harlem shake or whatever is trending. |

It was started by a guy named Pete Frates(sp?) who has ALS. I'm not one for the huge waste of water, but before you bash something know the story at least. - See page 1 for the story/video. |

Hundreds of millions of dollars were raised for a disease that affects 0.009% of the population... Again charity is always good, but I wonder if this is taking attention from diseases that affect a lot more people, that could also use some research funds? |
Been seeing some videos popping up on my FB feed of friends doing this thing. The thing I'm kinda proud to see is that they've all donated $100 each as well. I don't like most internet trends (I still don't know WTF the Harlem Shake is, nor do I ever care to find out), and I was prepared to completely ignore this one as well after seeing it pop up on my own feeds. But I'm kinda happy to see that for once an internet trend is being used to further a good cause. Unlike planking, because fuck plankers. |
