If I understand correctly about this pending merger, both companies would operate as separate entities.
-was looking forward to buying a Whopper and box of Timbits from the same franchise location.

I dont even know how BK still exist in Canada.
Besides whopper Wednesday...I never see a BK full and busy.

Wendy's and Tim Horton split a while back. Wendy spun Tim's off because they could make a killing on the TSX (which they did).
I think there are a few things going for the deal BK needs customers in Canada and they have the global clout in supply chain. In fact, just serving Tim's coffee exclusively would be quite a coup for Tim's. Another interesting for BK is they have the youngest management team in the industry. As for customer traffic, it is the franchisee that takes the hit on that, honestly I think most of the franchisee (probably less than 4 in town) are sticking around because they are waiting for their lots to be redeveloped.
Also don't forget the person behind the deal is Bill Ackman... he probably knows the in and out more than everyone on this board put together.
BK and Tim's they had been on the market a few times. Remember BK used to be part of the Pepsi group? Quote:
