| License Suspension?
I got 3 speeding tickets this year and I disputed them all, each of them are $196 and I believe 3 points each. I have not received any other tickets other than these since I have been driving, I have my class 5 and was just wondering how many points until a suspension, given I have racked up 9 points this year.

When you are convicted I believe the MVB will prohibit you for that number of points. You can also be prohibited without being convicted if the MVB feel your attitude indicates a disregard for the law and the consequences. Your post here makes me think you could be considered in that catagory. None of us here believe that you only exceeded the limit on those 3 occasions when you got caught. Life fails you a lot harder than RS ever does. Take the hint.

you would think you would stop speeding after the 1st one. granted we don't know the situation and your dispute, but given that it happened 3 times, i don't think you understand what rules are until it is too late.
i hope they actually revoke your license for the disregard of the possibility for the loss of life regardless of your own or someone else. hopefully not the latter.

Page 13 has the info you are looking for. http://www.pssg.gov.bc.ca/osmv/share...guidelines.pdf
Not sure why someone would hope you crash into a pole, sounds a bit heartless for a guy possibly going 5 over in a 60 zone... could be more/less but would have to be a tool to assume

Just saying. Who said anything about a 60 zone..did I miss something?

Is the only way to get a $196 ticket by going over 21 km/h or do the officers have some discretion over how you are fined?

Sounds like you deserve that suspension WHEN it comes. 9 points in one year, you will be getting a letter from the MVA with your 3 month suspension soon I'm sure.
You will also have a chance to appeal this, but judging from your "9 points in one year" it will probably get denied and you will end up getting it taken.
Try slowing down, its a lot easier on the wallet and safer to boot.

Seeing as you are a "REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONAL" I could see this being a very bad thing.
When the letter comes, the best thing you can do is try and appeal it on basis of you needing the vehicle for work seeing as you work all over the valley.

15 - 19 points in 2 years is probation so be more careful and you don't have to worry about it

1-20 km/hr over = $138
21-40 km/hr over = $196
41-60 km/hr over = $368
61-xxx km/hr over = $498
Officers have some discretion on lowering the fine amount, not raising it.

| if you take it to court they COULD let you just pay your fines and hold back on the points against your license. But for a 3 peat offender i don't see you having much luck unless your officers don't show up. |

If you are convicted of a ticket associated with points, you will get points. The only thing the courts can affect is the fine amount, a guilty finding or a not guilty finding.

That isn't what was insinuated or articulated in that post. And it is something the JJP normally "clears" with the officer who issued the ticket.

Personally, if I am writing a ticket, the offence is bad enough for me to WANT the driver to be penalized with the points. I could care less whether the province gets the money or not. If the driver disputed the ticket and plead guilty or was found guilty, I would not be against a lesser fine, but I would be adamant about the points. Amending a ticket to the RO is pretty much letting the driver get off the hook as it will never show on their record. The only time I would write a ticket to the RO is if the RO said they did not know who was driving their vehicle, and it was observed driving like an idiot.
