Good brunch place for group (10ppl)

Looking for a good brunch place for a group of 10.

Thinking more like a family style, not so noisy, not pretencious place.

Dim Sum is already on the list. Need others...

Yew at Four Seasons.

A lot of choices including your regular breakfast stuff AND a lot of meaty offerings.

Mix and match appetizer + entree + dessert and it's about $30 to $40 per person.

Been going there for at least once a month.

Quality is consistent.

------------------------------

Or Market by Jean Georges.

Fewer choices than Yew, but quality is a little better than Yew.

Almost the same price range.

They have 2 private rooms for parties of 10.

Quality is consistent.

Funny how the OP is looking for a family-style non-pretentious restaurant then others throw out Yew, Fairmont Pacific Rim, and Market by Jean Georges. Lol

^ Parking at Starlight is more abundant. You avoid the perils of Richmond traffic/drivers, as in you don't really have to worry as much about getting your car written off if you go to Starlight. And there's a casino next door to try and win your brunch bill back. Food is pretty much the same at both places.

There, you don't have to strain so hard to try and read his mind.

I go there once every 2 weeks.

Quality is always consistent.

Parking is free (you buy a ticket, then get reimbursed LATER, remember your license plate # though).

Parking is OKAY if and may have to wait a few minutes, UNLESS you part at the ground level Richmond Centre parking lot (which always has spaces).

FOOD:
Reserve ahead, possibly 5 or 6 days ahead to get the time you want.

If you reserve 2 or 3 days ahead, here is what they will say:
"The only times we have available are before 10:30AM or AFTER 1:30PM"

This ALWAYS happen if you want to reserve a weekend date and only call them 1 to 3 days ahead of time.

----------

I tried the Starlight one, and the food is good, but not as good as the one in Richmond.

Ok seriously do they still have it?

Because I asked them for durian rice cake. I forgot how to say durian in chinese so I had to resort to showing the server a picture. No dice.

PLEASE TELL ME

They have it at the Richmond Kirin.

They sell out quickly, so if you really want it, call ahead to make a reservation for the table AND for that dish/dessert.

This also applies to: Barbecue, sweet pork cakes (crispy exterior, slightly burnt) AND the taro crispy dish.

Or, take your chances when one of the managers come out with 6 or 8 plates of Durian Mochi and shuffles around all the tables to sell them.

YES! Definitely pre-order. I had them about 3 weeks ago at Starlight and they were AMAZING. I ate 3 and my mom called me fat

Excellent! Do you know what they're called in Chinese? I was going to go with "lao leen bao" but my fiancee (who also doesn't know what it's called) says that I'll be laughed at if I ask for that lol

And is there a time-frame for preorders? I usually book a day in advance, but I'm guessing this isn't enough time.

Oh God thank you so much!

I've been going through withdrawal since T&T/Pricesmart sold out of their ridiculously priced but ridiculously delicious durian moon cakes. This will ease the symptoms for sure.
