Put it in a ziplock, walk up to the teller and tell them to start counting.

Since when? I just took a bunch of coins to Grand Villa a couple months ago without any problems.

There was an old thread here a few years ago. People reported at that time River Rock no longer accepted massive coin exchanges, even if you asked for chips in return.

If it's more than you can bring to the bank, just buy those plastic thing at staples and some coin rollers and do it yourself. so easy.

I did this with $3000 worth of coins. Had to drag the bag to the bank because the shoulder strap broke.

You don't even need to buy them. I bank with TD and for the past 8 years they've been giving it to me for free. Not sure about other banks but I assume if you're a customer they would just give it to you as well.

So conclusion is that there is no free coin machine without doing at a bank that you are with!

Can't speak for all of them, but the 3 I frequent once had and now do not have coin-counting machines. This would be Coquitlam Center Shaugnessey and Poco.

I have know idea why but they did.

Yes, it was removed around June last year. :(

IMASA 01-04-2017 01:06 PM

I saw a thread on Reddit a while back that many banks started to pull their coin counting machines because of inaccurate counts. Too many customers were complaining as the machine count didn't match their own count.

roopi 01-04-2017 01:18 PM

www.coinstar.ca to locate machines by Postal Code. Keep in mind Coin Star machines do charge a percentage of 11.9%.

Coinstar machines were the exact company TD pulled the plug on due to not meeting their accuracy standards.

What if the machine was correct and the customer counted wrong? :troll:

adambomb 01-05-2017 02:46 PM

Yep, TD removed them in June because....SwiftRage

Vancity has counting machines at certain branches.

TD was the best one IMO, it literally shows you how many of each coin.

If you separated the coins and do it invidually, pretty hard to short change you.

Eff-1 01-05-2017 03:09 PM

The vancity machine also shows you the #s of coins by denomination on a screen. Whether it's 100% correct or not, who knows. That's the risk you take I guess by relying on a machine to count instead of counting by hand.

Too bad the casino doesn't take coins anymore, I'd bet their machines were the most accurate.

mr_chin 01-05-2017 03:47 PM

Superstore on Grandview has one. Not sure if they charge a fee though.

So... if these people already counted, why do they need the machine to count it for them again? :seriously: Just roll it up and bring it in.

I once brought a full plastic Coca-Cola container to TD Oakridge. Spent almost an hour there dumping the coins in.

No I did not pre-count so I have no idea if it's accurate, but it was over a grand in coins lol. The bottle actually broke so I had to half carry it in with a double garbage bag :lawl:
I want another but I got it in Vegas...

dlo 01-11-2017 04:43 PM
