free coin counting machines I know this has been asked before but what's the latest news on free coin counting machines? I used to go to the casino but I remember someone saying they no longer do that anymore. There was a credit union on Hastings in Burnaby that had a free counting machine but I phoned them today and they no longer have it. I know BMO and TD bank have machines but I am not a customer at either of those banks. Any other options? |
I am certain that you do not need to be a customer to use the TD coin counters. They'll charge you a small percentage to use it though. You can also ask your friends if they are willing to help you use the coin counters if they're a customer at either TD or BMO, just buy them a coffee or something haha |

It's an 8% fee for a TD non-customer to use the machine. I've got a couple hundred bucks worth of coins, so free is the goal! |

most TD banks and safeway have them as well |
BMO ones are free for everyone, such as the one at Lougheed Mall. |

for bmo its 8% after 250 if its under its free |
If you have time, self serve check out cashier |
8% is crazy. i know it may not sound like a lot of money, compare that with the interest rates they give you in savings account... anyway, maybe go ask for some coin wrappers from bank and spend an hour or two doing it yourself? |

Superstore at metro had one by their self-checkouts, but after their full renovation.. not sure if they still have it there |
The safeway one is like 12 cents on the dollar lol |
Which bank are you with? The CIBC by oakridge mall has a coin counter for CIBC/President Choice customers. |
all my loose change from 2013 cashed in at the beginning of this year http://mysuki.hosterbox.net/REVSCEnE...16,%202014.jpg http://mysuki.hosterbox.net/REVSCEnE...2014%20(2).jpg was not expecting that much money from it. came out to about $550 since the machine doesn't recognize the newer toonies, had to deposit them at the teller instead |
I've used the coin counter machines on 3 occasions at TD - roughly around $100 each time. It's actually fun to use, like playing a game and seeing how much you get :fullofwin: |
I'm pretty sure I just saw the machine at the Main and SE Marine Drive Superstore the other day as well. |

It's not free to use, however. |
Most Safeway and superstore has coin machine for you to use but for a small percentage that will add up for them that you have to pay. |
Ok guys I have a plan thanks to the info in this thread. 1. Vancity on commercial drive has a coin machine. Free for everyone. 2. CIBC near Oakridge (I have a PC Financial savings acct that I forgot about) 3. I will bring my mom to TD Bank in North Vancouver (she banks with TD) |
When I went to the BMO at Lougheed Mall, the signage on the machine said that they would charge 8% if you're not a customer - however the customer service lady told me that they don't usually charge it even if the sign says so. I put in about $250 of coins and didn't get charged. |
Royal oak and kingsway in Burnaby has a safeway that has coin counter |
There was one Safeway (I think it was the one on Arbutus, near Kerrisdale) and the fee was something outrageous like 22 cents per dollar or something...so stay away from those. |
I've always figured the ones at Safeway took a cut, but 12 or 22% as reported in this thread is obscene. |
