Vancouver Writer's Fest Granville Island

Anyone else check it out?

The crowd was so old, all tea-drinkers who are in bed by 10 PM. I met ONE DUDE, John Freeman, who was cool.

Holy fuck writing blows. There are like, 1-2 cool writers in town. If you really want to reach people don't write; become a DJ.

I'm sure people who can write are cool. I find people being able to do what i cannot do very cool.

What sort of range did the writing encompass? Was it all fiction? Anything political that reflected contemporary issues?

It was all very light and fluffy. I was looking in particular for other authors who question the inherent "goodness" in technology, specifically I'm trying to find people who share my dislike of online dating. It is completely inorganic and now proven that marriages that result from online dating are 3 times more likely to end in divorce.

The event was as mainstream as a birthday dinner for Steven Harper.
