99 integra won't start

Need some help.
Got a 99 integra GSR that died in the middle of an intersection and will not start at all.

I checked the fuel pump (can hear it engage, checked fuses) all sounds fine..

The car will crank but it just won't start... I don't know too much about cars, can someone help with the diagnosis...

air, fuel, spark.

start narrowing it down. pull the cap off the fuel rail and turn ignition on for a second. *place a bottle under it unless you want gas everywhere* if fuel comes out then its not fuel.

pull a spark plug wire and check for spark while someone cranks the motor

and unless your timing is fcked air shouldnt be an issue.

after you do these things, report back!

My guess would be the distributor.

Coil or ignitor

I'd say the same, coil or ignitor. Although, as snails suggested, diagnose the problem first.

Nothing worse than throwing parts at a problem and hoping it fixes it.

Well once he puts a spark wire and does/dosnt see spark we can rule out other issues
.. But he's kinda got to do it first

I'll check and report in on Tuesday. Do I simply pull the spark plug wires and look into it while someone cranks the car and look for a spark?

I'm told its likely the distributor... How should I check that? are they expensive and where can you get a new one.

Thanks guys

You should be able to see a spark yes, at least on my car I do.

And unless you wanna spend lots of money on a new oem, grab one from Craigslist or the wrecker.

DO NOT BUY EBAY OR NAPA SHIT! These things have all sorts of seals and sensors and exciting stuff like that. You buy a cheap one and you will just be asking for trouble

you have to have the spark plug touching the dead when you crank it over, it needs to be grounding out

the ECM is the engine control module

test for spark first...then you can work through ecm, dist etc

Tried putting in a screw driver into the spark plug wire socket thing and placing it near ground.. No spark.. Not sure if I am doing it right..
Then opened the distributor cap and found this

Not sure if that broken part would effect it..
Help?

That alone wouldn't prevent a spark.

If you tested it properly, it's probably a coil or ignitor issue.

Is there power going to the distributor?
