Heading out to the dyno today. Turbos getting turned up to 14psi :drool:drool:drool http://s9.postimg.org/dsqz77t2n/photo_1.jpg http://s9.postimg.org/vwyl5lg4v/photo_2.jpg http://s9.postimg.org/oi99d7u9b/photo.jpg |
Which dyno are your going to? Just curious. |
K&M Tune in Abbotsford |
Teaser again for those who care... Car got sent to they dyno last week well problems after problems. Shop that installed the parts didn't do a very good job so it didn't see a full dyno pull. Still no real dyno!!! had some electrical problems with sending enough voltage to the fuel pump to the AFR was a dicked. Decided to call it quits because working stressed never ends well. Kept getting knock so the tuner would fix it then increase the revs then fix then increase and so on. We were only able to get up to 4,000rpm...anyways the stuff that matters Again this is a teaser but the blue is torque (notice how vertical is it) and the red is horsepower. Note we only got up to 4300rpm so far with no knock and perfect AFR http://s21.postimg.org/qhq4wakuf/photo_1.jpg |
Looks great with those wheels! I'll be interested to see what it does on the dyno. |
Lets answer the questions now. Yes I know the CEL is on. The new fuel system isn't programed yet with the sensor so its giving a service fuel system check hence no fuel reading. Well how do you know when to fill up? Well since its averaging 11mpg then every other Chevron. Why no full throttle? Because the PSS are mounted on the Forgelines which are in transit back from being refitted and its got brutal Eagle F1 runflats and I don't trust them with this torque. You can actually see a warning for 'Traction System Active' coming on at 85mph (136mph) from the tires coming out, again at 3/4 throttle! And last wtf is that ringing? The rear laser jammers. Tubros heat them up when spooling hot at high rpm and need to be reinstalled higher in the bumper. Enjoy :) |
NICE! American cars don't get nearly the respect they deserve here in Vancouver. Very cool build. Keep us updated with the dyno numbers. :toot: |
so, did you get the car finished and on a drag strip yet? |

wow. i am surprised you are having so much issues, but tt are more trouble. good thinking installing the catch can. can't imagine all that oil going into the intake. why not get a can that can drain the oil back into oil pan? yikes on the electrical issues. |

Starting to sound like the nightmare I went through with my T88 Supra after my friend crashed it... There are times you just wish you kept the car stock so you could just drive and enjoy it!!! |
It is expected when pushing that much power, problem will pop up. Just wondering should you rewire the fuel system electrical system with a thicker gauge wire and run a higher amperage fuse? Wow love that dyno chart. |

But can the pump be an higher amperage pump that just need more juice? Maybe should look at the spec of the pump and see. |
Absolutely. There's no way that thing is still running the stock fuel pump (I hope!). Whatever pump it is running, the wire and fusing needs to be sized for it. There are plenty of kits for all GM cars.. so whatever pump the OP is using, needs to size the wiring accordingly. Or just stuff a larger fuse in there and watch it catch fire, like a large % of RS'ers ;) |
Car has a $4,000+ fuel system that was just installed for this build. This car is really taking to the name of this thread to heart. |
is the fuel pump still being controlled by the ecu through the oem wiring and relay? if so and if its a much bigger pump the current requirements of said pump might no be met. Whenever I upgrade pumps to something much larger than stock I use an ignition source to trigger a relay thats as close as possible to the pump and then run a dedicated power wire either 8 or 10 gauge and never smaller than 12. |
Car looks/sounds amazing! Shame with the issues though :( If i was to ever build a car like this, I'd be going to Davenport Motorsports in Calgary. Custom Performance Parts and Service : Davenport Motorsports They are an amazing shop with in-house dyno, etc... and put out dozens of cars like the vette you guys are building. no messing around with those guys :) (no affiliation with them but used to live in Calgary and have seen what they do) |
Where do I start ..LOL Car got out of the shop again yesterday hopefully for the last time. Total of 736days at the shop with a few days out here and there. Electrical problem was from when they installed the new fuel system the gauge of the wire wasn't big enough causing it to overheat shutting the system off and to run out of gas. Problem fixed!! Shop went to start up the car and oil starts pouring out of the exhaust...like really?? Turbos were shot and have seen their last day. I would say we got about 30,000kms out of them. Contact STS well... looks like they are out of business. Long story short on that one the turbo housing was made in USA but the turbine itself was made in China F**K me right?? Well this time decided not to mess around and ordered two bigger turbos from Precision Turbo for those who don't know they have been the leading turbo manufacturer in NHRA setting 119 world championships and 256 world records since 2008. Not junk. Pics and videos to come soon. Was too busy enjoying the car yesterday. Man its fun when its all working. See you out there :) |
project cars are just endless fucking money pits. cant wait to see more videos of the car in action!! |
