The Never Ending Build Four years ago my Dad bought a 3LT Corvette out of Texas as a little project car that would bring us closer together and make a reason for us to spend more time together....little did we know where this would take us. 6.0L 400hp V8 was sure a lot to handle...at the time. With the Exhaust being so disappointing we decided to install one. After looking at all the options Corsa Sport was the way to go. Dropped in a K&N air filter and a Diablo Sport Tune. Note the name of the boat... http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/u...e/DSC01715.jpg A year goes by and same with the purchase of Rims, Tires, Brembo Brakes, Mats, Rear wide body kit, two tone seats with arm rest, and escort 9500ci radar with laser jammer (yes it does work) http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/u...01994-Copy.jpg http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/u...e/IMG_0067.jpg With the car now looking way faster then it actually was...something needed to be done about that so Twin Turbos were installed :woot2: http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/u...e/DSC04482.jpg STS tubro was contacted and gave us the name to a shop across the boarder who was just featured in Corvette magazine. Car put down a huge 570wrhp at 7psi. Then we took a drive though Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, and up to Winnipeg for a Corvette show and shine....Montana&North Dakota BORING!. Just Sunflowers as far as you could see for hours http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/u...e/DSC03745.jpg http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/u...e/DSC03488.jpg Added some hood art to bring the engine bay to life a bit more...the old man likes ACDC LOL http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/u...e/IMG_0071.jpg So after many miles and many...many tanks of gas boost started to take a toll on some of the parts when driving back from whistler one day I noticed under throttle and high RPM there was a good drop in power and fuel pressure. Pull over, open the hood and SMOKE F**** B*** S**** look under the car. Oil again J**** F*** B**** bye bye head gasket. Back in the shop AGAIN! This time it started with a head gasket spark plugs two new fuel pumps and fuel override system fuel rails etc...Might as well get new brake pads too, oh and get rid of the wheel gap so coilovers were installed then the rims started to pit so the car was then custom fitted for Forgeline concave rims and added new PSS tires. Finally the car is done and we can get it back on the road again....nope. Mechanic mentioned that with a new cam and springs with the new fuel system the car could put down 1000hp. What? 1000? Ok come this far lets do it. Well while the parts were on order someone backed up into the car with a truck right into the front quarter panel!!!! This meant a front wide body was in order..And here we are today in its current state waiting for the fenders to be painted....The never ending build Thanks for reading :hi: http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/u...02ba389812.png http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/u...e/photo219.jpg http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/u...e/photo119.jpg |

fucking amazing dude. i absolutely love these cars.. you're a very fortunate guy to have a dad who shares the same passion you do. i aspire to own a 2011-2013 Corvette Grand Sport. currently saving for one and should be in my garage within the next 5-6 years. sigh.... |
Great post and thanks for sharing. I've always been fusions about remote mounted turbo setup as you don't often see them. What is the response like? For example when do you see full boost and how does the power come in? |

For those interested...... Whole car has been wet sanded next will be a 4 stage cut polish and wax. 50 hours of detail work:woot2: http://s10.postimg.org/izsrk3lo9/IMG_9078.jpg Coilovers have been fitted might have to be raised up a bit so its more practical http://s10.postimg.org/w2oe3dbw9/photo_1.jpg Engine is finally apart :fuckyea: Time for the Custom turbo cam to be installed. Platinum dual spring kit, Titanium retainers, locks, seals, Chromoly one piece push rod, front timing cover gasket, timing cover gasket seals, water pump gasket, crank shaft damper bolt....Dyno should be not too far away http://s22.postimg.org/kcego0f5t/photo_11.jpg images upload |

i always forget that people still build pushrod engines nowadays. but hey, the lsx has go to be the most commonly swapped motor in the last 5-10 years. and there are many reasons why! oh, and im waiting for an exhaust video. Spoiler! |
It's a manual right? |
First untuned video taken from the old mand iphone 4 yes its not even a 4s |
|
Did you end up doing a full engine rebuild with forged pistons and bigger bore to obtain the 1000hp along with the turbos? i am surprised how much power you can get out of the corvette engine while spending half of what other exotics cost to get the same power. |
Looks like fun! One of the most enjoyable cars I've driven was a 550hp supercharged Corvette. I can't imagine what 1000hp would feel like! |
