Your 2014 Journey

This is basically a TL;DR of the year on how much you've done in terms of vehicles, before the new years hits, let's share some stories!

Anyways...

How did the year 2014 go with your project car(s)?

This is how I started off in the year,

Sittin' pretty in the garage while I was at work in a land far far away. :concentrate:

http://distilleryimage7.ak.instagram...0a9f1939_7.jpg

At this time, the car was the usual, exhaust, downpipe, gauges, seats and the only thing differentiating it from any other STI were shitty flares (to this day, they are the biggest regrets I had on the car), and I was missing a passenger seat.

I bought the car out shortly afterwards late January from Richmond Subaru, and this is where the stupidity began.

http://photos-h.ak.instagram.com/hph...64050906_n.jpg

The car made a short trip to Burnaby to The Speed Syndicate, where they pretttttttttty much built the entire thing.

JTanner & Qster photobombing my Pooparu.

http://photos-b.ak.instagram.com/hph...40342806_n.jpg
Parts kept arriving, so TSS quite literally had my car from March -> June, and at the end of it, nothing on the car was stock anymore, with exceptions of the Aero and Engine Block, as the Varis kit had not arrived yet.

After this giant hurdle, the car was send downwards to Pacific Import Auto for the tune.

http://photos-d.ak.instagram.com/hph...81288437_n.jpg

Of course, things don't go your way when Pistons fire the wrong way :concentrate:.

I made about 375WHP on the Mustang Dyno before the pistons cracked, and the ringlands gave way, reasons were still up in the air, and we figure out why much later in the year.

At this point, I was a little butthurt, as I've driven the car maybe 3 days in the year, and the definitive stereotypes of a Subaru staying in the shop more than it driving was becoming realized....

So I bought Narita Dog Fight's S2000.

http://photos-c.ak.instagram.com/hph...38997019_n.jpg

It was a little dirty, slapped some wheels on, and called it a day. It's still sitting in Cali, will be importing it up early next year :awwyeah:

http://photos-e.ak.instagram.com/hph...13016111_n.jpg

Now it's about July in the timeline, I decided to rebuild the STI with a sleeved motor & forged goods. The head's have new valves from the piston's melting on to it.

http://photos-g.ak.instagram.com/hph...03622600_n.jpg
http://photos-b.ak.instagram.com/hph...79526065_n.jpg

Funny enough, I was driving my two good friend's car more than my own in the summer.

http://photos-f.ak.instagram.com/hph...81121018_n.jpg

August 15th is the day I won't forget, I finally got the car back!

http://photos-c.ak.instagram.com/hph...55259061_n.jpg

August 16th...and back to TSS it goes.... :okay:

http://photos-g.ak.instagram.com/hph...04036053_n.jpg

For all the right reasons :awwyeah:

http://photos-h.ak.instagram.com/hph...90199058_n.jpg
http://photos-f.ak.instagram.com/hph...75358933_n.jpg
http://photos-g.ak.instagram.com/hph...18449827_n.jpg

The Aero is finally on, and the car at this point really had no stock parts anymore.

For those of you who went to the TSS track day this year, I actually got the car ready & tuned...the night before. :fuckyea:

Bracing installed.

Helmet secured.

http://i.imgur.com/21IHMCY.jpg

Oil swapped from Organic & break in fluid -> Synthetic

http://i.imgur.com/Z9yd9sP.jpg

Hit 350WHP/300TQ on the Mustang with a break in tune the night before track.

http://i.imgur.com/oeuDGTG.jpg

Vroom vroom, chasing the old turd.

https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3864/...6589ac5c_k.jpg

My dump pipe was seriously destroying my side skirts, so I kept re-wrapping it in heat tape which obviously did nothing, I was having too much fun.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...44874355_o.jpg
https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...53815291_o.jpg
Extraordinary day with extraordinary drivers & cars.

A month after in October, I'm getting my final tune.

https://scontent-a-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/...83&oe=5516E599

Low and behold, I am again misfiring, and would've destroyed another motor if not for the Benson sleeving.

Turns out, one of the Douchework injectors was not firing properly, leaning out one of the cylinders causing misfire, gotta come back another day....

Swapped them to FiC 900cc injectors about a week later and safely made 402WHP/372TQ!

3 days after that I drove to SoCal expecting some track events.... but it was down time and I ended up going to Year.Six instead.

http://scontent-a-sea.cdninstagram.c...83069495_n.jpg

http://photos-a.ak.instagram.com/hph...18870363_n.jpg

http://photos-b.ak.instagram.com/hph...04803492_n.jpg

Got the car back up here no problem

http://photos-g.ak.instagram.com/hph...72978938_n.jpg

Then I went to Japan/HK, came back...and here I am jetlagged :drunk:

So that's my journey with the car this year, I'm expecting some grand events next year too with a rotated turbo, cage, paint, and upgraded aero!

Please share your story!

Project_240 12-09-2014 10:08 AM

Qster would love to update you with my journey but may as well wait for a 2015 thread instead hahahaha :fuckyea:

Wish my 2014 car year is as exciting as your.... Basically I put in a strut bar, intake and some comestic bits.

Than I got a beater and put a bunch of money into fixing it up

:failed:

320icar 12-09-2014 10:13 AM

Any story following belauds will be a disappointment... This year for me was really relaxed.

- Bought my '14 focus at last December. Decided not to modify the new car
- bought an old focus wagon as a parts hauler and for the girlfriend
- bought a '79 Kawasaki kh100el and cafe'd it
- bought a '91 gti but sold it to my bro. He's fixing it up
- bought an '05 gsxr 600 which I rode this morning in the pouring rain

And yeah... Slow year for me

hurry up with the s2k

so you can say, "Too soon, junior." all day long!

Godzira 12-09-2014 10:22 AM

this year went by too quick..it didn't seem like I did anything to it except drive but I guess its all pretty boring little things. I have very big, expensive upgrades to cover in 2015! :)

Don't worry, its clean again.

mb_ 12-09-2014 10:22 AM

Fixed like 4 different coolant leaks over the summer, found another one while I was taking the transmission out :okay:

Put my RPF1s on, blew my struts at Auto X then replaced it with Koni Yellows then clutch went at the very next Auto X :alone:

Currently waiting for more $$$ so I can finally get the damn thing back together and drivable lol. Will probably be done in January.

That's the boring summary of my 2014 journey

meme405 12-09-2014 10:30 AM

Still awaiting to see what you do with that S2K. You told me it was going to be even crazier than the STI. Epic build on that STI, good job for not giving up when you lost that first engine.

I'll share a little bit just for the hell of it. Most of you will probably know this years story for me if you read my build thread (in the siggy). Otherwise the TL;DR version:

Literally took this photo on January 1, 2014:

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7369/...02d31e00_c.jpgDSC_0348-Final by meme_405, on Flickr

By middle of march:

https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2826/...e5e4cb24_c.jpgDSC_0174-Final by meme_405, on Flickr

At her second anniversary at the beginning of october:

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps3c44302b.jpg

And how I will end up finishing the year (with no good pictures):

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps02ed06d7.jpg

First thing next year will be a set of wheels, to replace my dearly departed GTR's. Going 22" this time. Beyond that the only other definite plan is a BBK.

Is there a reason why u aint painting your kit? cuz it looks ghetto as hell

Cause money doesn't grow on trees, and something as epic as the STI above takes time to be built.

This isn't NFS Underground. You don't drive into a shop and come out with a built and kitted car 2 minutes later.

white rocket 12-09-2014 11:11 AM

Smashed up the ITR in July. Finally got approval from ICBC to fix it yesterday. Fucking assholes took 5 months to figure it out while my caR just sat outside. Hope it doesn't go over the limit they gave me or else they will just write it off.

I was gonna do the whole tuck bay thing but decided to just fix it and shit kick it at the track next year. The money saved will be going towards my next car, which I'm hoping to purchase in the next 2 years.

dared3vil0 12-09-2014 11:17 AM

I don't feel worthy enough to post what little i've done in this thread with Belauds STi in the first post lol.

Oh well.

Also bought an SCT X4 with MPT 91 octane tune.

Next year will be Bilsteins, Maximum Motorsports springs, bunch of BMR goodies, possibly a Watts link, 18x10 (undecided) with a 275/40/18 square.

And as many track days as I can fit/afford into my schedule lol.

I'd imagine if you replace every instance of "washed car" with "buy new car", you would have some idea of what Tofu's year was like...:accepted:

2014 has been a hell of a year.
I really 'cleaned' the C55 up. Basically all I did was a long list of maintenance, but by the end of summer I was actually content with the way the car drove. It was in really nice condition for a car with about 140,000km - until you see westopher's M3.

As for the E55, I can't wait to start working on it

Mr.C 12-09-2014 01:11 PM

Started the year with a 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora, for the really cold days (below -30):

https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...413ebfe95582dd

and with a 2000 740iL for the not-so-cold days:

https://scontent-a-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/...a5&oe=5508EC69

But, unfortunately, the cold and poor maintenance in the past took its toll on both cars; the Oldsmobile developed a strong lower oil pan leak, and the 740iL had a massive chain guide failure, resulting in this:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...e7c6aea35c3b31

which led to this:

https://scontent-b-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/...af&oe=551821E7

and eventually this:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.n...ea3ecc8cd10b43

Had some major life events, wherein I moved back to Vancouver, and, while not thinking straight, bought this with fucked up brakes, supercharger, and a massive oil leak:

https://scontent-a-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/...40411813_o.jpg

Had a moment of clarity and traded it in for this:

https://scontent-b-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/...82230221_o.jpg

But couldn't resist picking up another BMW for practically nothing, with "possible timing chain guide failure":

https://scontent-b-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/...03319532_o.jpg

Ended up being bad cam sensors, ha!

Currently sits like this:

https://scontent-b-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/...98695152_o.jpg

Even though it started really shitty, not a bad car year for me.
