Winter driving

I presume by his story that he was already 100% at fault for the accident. So it won't make any difference.

Spoiler!

So what was your dads reaction when you told him you wrote the car off?

im willing to bet he drives it majority of the time anyways, the cars just under his dads name for registration (and probably the insurance discount)

bomiheko 01-05-2015 02:33 PM

I wouldn't worry about all that. The thing I would worry the most is if the car was insured under your name. If it wasn't, they may try to deny you the claim and you'll be on the hook for ALL damages. ICBC is now denying claims to people who aren't properly insured. You may be able to get a lawyer to sort it out. Just hope ICBC don't chase after that fact.

...Or perhaps he was just borrowing his dad's vehicle?

That and it can still be in his Dad's name with him as the primary driver, which would be fine with ICBC.

Lol just saw the pics.

If I did this to my dads car I'd be making a run for Mexico

Reminds me of that VW commercial "he could only kill you if you're alive"

Good thing you're okay though

ts14 01-05-2015 03:21 PM

bring the x6 by my shop, will tell u right now that its getting written off lol. ICBC usually does the estimate or investigates the damage if the fault is unclear or if damage is suspicious. Otherwise they would send it to a ICBC valet shop like mine to get the estimate and repairs done.

Verdasco 01-05-2015 07:58 PM

^ you did not take road conditions as a factory in your thoughtful question

there's stricter rules in NA to get a car back on the road as a rebuilt? Those pics are pretty scary

Maybe he had low tire pressure and traction off like this guy:

M4 loses control leaving Cars and Coffee, hits median, gets airborne. Owner explains.

not too sure on the inspections done here in canada, but in the states, i read this article some time ago regarding rebuilt titles n its scary how its done,

Why You Don't Want To Buy A Rebuilt Salvage Vehicle

basically, the TLDR version of it is, the inspection is done to ensure what ever parts used to rebuild the vehicle is not stolen. the inspection does not have anything to do with weather the vehicle is safe to be on the roads or not.

thats y dont ever buy a rebuilt/savage title vehicle from the states unless u know its fixed up the right way

acurael 01-05-2015 11:35 PM

that is 100% a write off. There is no way ICBC will repair that. Once an airbag goes off and the car is a 3-4 years old or so its almost always a write off. I learned that when my G35 got written off. Good news is ICBC is usually fair when they pay you out on the vehicle.

Qmx323 01-06-2015 12:08 AM

jeez luiz looks pretty bad

be glad no one got hurt.

lesson learned. WINTER TIRES

Zordon 01-06-2015 06:41 AM

Dismantle for sure and i'm glad the German engineering prevented any major injuries.

StylinRed 01-06-2015 05:58 PM

bmw puts summer tires on X6's :crazy2: or did you guys buy those tires separately? thought all seasons were put on all non-sport cars, especially crossovers/suvs

thumper 01-06-2015 06:15 PM

lower model mustangs come with all-seasons (including base v8)... pirelli pzero neros on my generation. not sure what they are using now

iHeat 01-06-2015 07:34 PM

BMW x6 headlights housings alone are like $1000 a pop pretty sure they'll pay you out for it

But if there is any suspicion, you can be sure they will investigate and they can pull some pretty sneaky stuff too during that process.
