Japan's Pepper Lunch opening in Metro Vancouver

Pepper Lunch opening first Canadian location in Metro Vancouver

The concept of Pepper Lunch is to put the cooking in the customers’ hands. Diners can “sizzle it their way” by selecting their meat or seafood and then cooking it to order on a customized Pepper Lunch hot plate.

Looks interesting... Anyone tried this?
The Richmond location, at 150-$5951 No. 3 Road

According to their tweet, its opening next month...

I find this concept kinda stupid.. I mean if I want to cook my own steak I will fire up my bbq and be able to eat and drink in the comfort of my own home...

I can't wait to hear the complaints from customer's that over cook their own food.

Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

There's countless korean BBQ places, and others like Shabusen which offer up a similar premise where you cook the meet yourself.

Nothing seems to be hampering their popularity.

Pepper Lunch is about as overhyped as it gets outside Japan. In Japan it's just a fast food joint where you smell like grease and pepper when you leave.

This place is nasty as fuck. Tried one of the places they opened in Vietnam. Of course the locals like it but everything seems prepackaged and cheap.

^^^
I've only ever had MOS in HK. I thought it was a damn good burger, when compared to other fast food burgs. I regret trying it on the final days of my trip, otherwise I would've had so many burgers. Didn't realize there was any hype about it since it's been around for so long.

Pepper Lunch was soooo good when I had it in HK. I can't wait til Yoshinoya comes to Canada/Vancouver

+1 to what SP said about MOS Burger, tried it once in HK and once in TW and both times it was mediocre at best..

Pepper Lunch is OK... It's not horrible, but I don't like the hype.

Yoshinoya is OK for gyudon too - not the best. I ate tons of gyudon when I stayed in Japan for 6 months last year, and by far the best is Sukiya.

I already miss the Takanomentaimayo gyudon
