Messing around with some funky co-ferments out of Traffic in Montreal. The Jai-Chew Lychee does smell and taste amazingly like lychee, and the PB&J has incredible grape jelly and banana bread notes with a buttery peanut finish.

These fermented/infused beans are absolutely crazy. I've had one infused with watermelon and it was like drinking watermelon juice, but a black liquid.

bcrdukes 12-15-2025 04:49 AM

I had a bag of gifted beans that were fermented with* grape (the candy flavour). It was neat at first but the novelty wore off quickly. It really took away from the quality of the bean and the roast quality, or lack thereof.

Okay to try for fun, but not for me.

EvoFire 12-15-2025 08:36 AM

All these infused beans, they sound cool and all but I don't think I'll like them, I don't think I can finish a whole bag of them with drinking only 1 a day.

unit 12-15-2025 08:46 AM

same here... i'd try a cup but i already know i won't like it..

I would say that Traffic gets the balance right - it's not overpowering, it adds a subtle but fun note to the coffee, and doesn't detract from the excellent roast job that was done on the coffee.

Infused is not the same with co-fermented. I think you should give it a shot.

Next meet I should bring grinder/kettle/burner/scale and make coffee at the meet lmao.

Pourover - I do 21g/350ml, so each bag is about 15 drinks give or take.

It's on the funky end of coffee, more experimental style for sure.

bcrdukes 12-15-2025 01:40 PM

roastpuff - As a frame of reference, where did you buy the PB&J coffee from?

RabidRat 12-15-2025 02:19 PM

Looks like Traffic!

https://www.trafficcoffee.com/products/half-caf-pbj

Interesting. I've had infused but never co-fermented. Will have to give this a try.

bcrdukes 12-15-2025 02:31 PM

Oh damn. I thought this was a Loblaws/President's Choice No Name Brand product! :denied:

I think you should start a Eyeglasses thread

bcrdukes 12-15-2025 02:36 PM

Traffic in Montreal is terrible. And they're fixing the streets year-round. Why would anyone want to go there?

SkinnyPupp 12-15-2025 04:17 PM

Half the fun of coffee is finding unique flavours through different beans, growing conditions, and fermentation and roasting methods. But not adding flavours in the process!

I knew it would get to this point once the zoomers grew up and got bored of normal interesting coffee.

RabidRat 12-15-2025 04:29 PM

CO-FERMENTATION!! Totally different!!!!! Presumably!!

I’m pretty sure that’s a presidents choice no name brand coffee. I don’t know what traffic has to do with it.

bcrdukes 12-15-2025 06:16 PM

I have perfect 20/20 vision. :drunk:

Razor Ramon HG 12-15-2025 06:46 PM

I tried some blueberry infused beans while I was in Hawaii from Green World Coffee Farm. Was really good and would try again.

I've seen that vanilla hazelnut or whatever at Costco, but you guys said it sucks :lol
