Advice needed: 2 jobs, need to quit 1 asap

OK, heres the deal... i got a job offer that i signed for late Dec for a start date of Jan 12, 2015. So yah, i'm 2 days in...but i got another offer from another company just last night and I want to pursue that role instead.

Now, at this current place there is a clause in the offer contract that states that I can resign at anytime without notice during my initial 90 day probationary period.

So question is...i'd like to do this but is it best in person, in email? i dont have to start at the new job till the 26th but I gotta get outta this place before then.

I want to be polite/professional so any ideas would be great.

just tell them that a more suitable position has opened up for you, and that you're very grateful for the experience and the time that this company has given you.. I mean you can word it better than that but that's the message you want to send.. I'd hand in a letter by person, but in these days e-mails work too I guess

i would think the verbal first and then follow-up with email with additional details so it's on record. i think it's bad taste when someone does the email/text/phone to call it quits. it's like breaking up i guess

I would have a formal brief meeting with your manager/supervisor. Keep it professional and don't leave it off on a bad note. IMO, a good employer would want you to pursue something you feel is best for you.

write official letter, meet with manager in person discuss and hand in letter.
if possible stick around to train your replacement.

Do it in person. It's quite easy as you have just started. Just hand a letter and give two weeks if possible. They may just let you go on the spot as they haven't trained you yet.

I've had people do this.

I make sure to update their flowfinity profile with a big brief along with a "DO NOT HIRE". Not such a big deal if it was only our company which shared information internally, unfortunately we share our resource pool directly back to our partners, as well as for tradespeople the reviews are forwarded back to CLAC. My final passive aggressive form of revenge...
