The only time I catch a break is she often forgets shit on a daily basis including her phone.... so once a week or so she'll forget her phone and we'll go out together.. but then since we're forced to constantly talk, we eventually get annoyed at one another have a minor argument, then go home, not really speaking.....

so the following day I make sure to remind her to bring her phone with her when we head out, and it's all smiles and jokes the rest of the day....

you got it made, don't complain

Sounds like you might have some communication issues. I think you should start another thread. :troll:

as long as they aren't on their phone while you're fucking then it's ok.

internet is more interesting than cuddling. unless there's intent to lead to sex.

but even then sometimes internet is more interesting.

Message her nonstop even when you are next to each other. That will be sort of a silent together moment.... depends how you handle it could be hella fun too.

I pictured OP's partner as a dude, because it's always dudes I see with this problem, and women feeling ignored by their dude's phone addiction. Either way you gotta tell them why it's an issue for you and if it really bothers you and you feel ignored, then find someone who isn't into looking at their phone so much.

it happens but I got used to it after a while. boyfriend never even looks at me anymore when we go out for food... always on his phone looking at car parts pretty much. as long as you still get their attention in the bedroom it's all good.

I try not to use my cell phone when I am out with friends. Is kind of rude to stare at your cell phone all the time while talking to them. I mean if I want to do that I mind as well do it at home.

Few years ago I went to a speed dating event with a friend and this one girl would use her phone non stop and not showing a sign of interest to anyone. When it was my turn to talk to her the first thing I pointed out was it is very rude to not look at the person you are speaking to and only stare at your phone. I also ask does she do this to all her friends. She didn't like that comment lol.

That sucks. I want to be acknowledged as a living, breathing person sitting across the table from my partner. If the only time he's paying attention to me is when we're in bed, he may as well get a fleshlight. It's absolutely 100% rude and disrespectful to go to dinner with someone and ignore them to look at your phone. It's sad to me that this is normal and acceptable behavior to a lot of people.

Agreed. The worst feeling in the world is when I get really excited and enthusiastic to tell a person something and they're so involved with facebook or snapchat, so I try a little harder but I can just physically feel them not caring at all I slowly fade out and it doesn't even phase them. I just let them keep doing what their doing.

i have this problem, my girl is part of this fking 4x person Taiwanese chat group.. the msgs are non stop. I try to talk to her, but she tells me to wait cuz she needs to finish catching up on the 1xx msgs left in the last 10 min... i got so frustrated one day that i grabbed her phone and just threw it on the floor. ( keep in mind we talked about having her face to her phone constantly, we had this talk prob 4-5 times before i snapped). Its better now, she doesn't constantly look at her phone. Im cool if she checks FB, insta or chats that fine, but when not a single word has been said since we sat down till the time we left because she too busy taking pics of food for her 4x person group chat, sorry cant take that.

Now she does her phone thing when shes alone or has free time, but when we are together there is no phone unless there is a legit reason. ie taking pics of the beach or family calls or friends calls etc.

You still getting laid?? I see no problems

melloman 07-09-2015 12:25 PM

^^ You clearly are either that person in the relationship.. or you haven't been in a relationship where this is a problem.

There's no point in having an exclusive, monogamous relationship if your SO is constantly on their phone not listening when you are trying to spend quality time with them.

Mr.HappySilp 07-09-2015 12:51 PM

We have it good here. Wifi everywhere, LTE on cell phones try going to a less develop city.

When I was traveling with my gf in some of the smaller cities in China where Wifi is only in restaurant and hotels and even then data is only 2g/3g on her phone (I didn't have data on my). Only then you realize how much time you spend your cell phones, computer ipads etc etc........ But then there are more topics and we do a lot more then just staring at our own phones.

Now I am back I try to avoid using my phone all the time. There are actually a lot going on around you than the world on your cell phone.

He/she, his/her, him/her not they, their. them ... unless OP is dating multiple people with the same issue.

+ yeah totally agree with gspec, its normal.

couple of advice i can give is go find your own hobby/ addiction - e.g going to the gym. - that takes like a good 2 hours of your day
+ 6 hours thinking about gains

and having alone time once a day per week and a date night twice a week where you actually go do something aside from eating out. go for a hike, activity things that forces you to take your phone away from your hands and to your pocket

the last time i was out with my buddy, he was on his phone a lot. as he was looking at his phone i said to him "i feel like pushing that into your face." when he said "what?" i did just that.
wasn't mean spirited, but we do like to mess with each other. he checked his phone much less after that.
prob won't work with someone in a relationship

OP probably wants to be as incognito as possible. it was an anonymous posting after all. there really isn't a good way to hide gender with a singular pronoun
