also sounds like they're not going to be releasing future versions of windows but rather offer a continuous stream of updates that the admin can pick and choose which features they want to install
This is a huge generalization but growing up in the Win 98 to Win XP era and seeing the Apple boom it's kinda fun to watch how Microsoft is working their asses off right now. They were playing it safe after that era and everyone hopped ahead with their operating systems and mobile software. Microsoft made tons of mistakes (and probably will make more) but it's also fun to watch them try.
Two things I'm excited about include the xbox one streaming. I'm going to be setting up an old ultrabook as a streaming Forza machine. Second is universal apps (which I thought was already working in Win 8 but I guess not?). I love windows phone but hate the app selection. Hopefully their plan of getting devs to write one app that will work on all platforms 'actually' works.
A little off topic but I love my xbox one. The amount of system feature updates they put in is like a new gift every few months. It's slick and a lot of fun to use.
Might upgrade to 10 on the next laptop I buy just to try it out (tried using Win8.1 for a while, it's not my favourite OS). Otherwise, I think I'll still be keeping my desktop and HTCC as a Win7 platform.
