I facebook'd his name and small world, we has about a dozen mutual friends, all from the downhill skate boarding scene. He probably has been to my house before then.

I wonder what happens what scammers scam each other. Like what if Alex park scammed Rick with a shitty phone.
What would Rick do, how do scammers duke it out

Texted him at 10:11pm. He replied at 10:18 after I threatened him with finding his residential address and filing small claims court.
He finally replied after avoiding me for half a year.
His reply was:
"How much do I owe you?"
I said $1000.
It's now 10:55, he didn't say anything since then.

From the replies so far, Revscene seem to have a lot less pull on this guy than on Alex Park. Especially since the person who scammed you is not a board member nor an active participant on RevScene.
If the guy has pulled this type of stunts a few times, he would be pretty blase about threats etc by now.

You can even fill out the notice of claim online and print it out with their filing assistant. theres filing fees for starting a claim, but its just added onto the 1000$ bill the scammer owes you if he loses. the whole process takes a long time though

The small claims courts looks like a very long process.
I wonder what would happen if I just go ring on his doorbell? At least he replied to my text tonight (but nothing else after) which shows he just needs a bit more pressure?

it is a long process, but there is always the opportunity to settle out of court once the notice of claim has been served. who knows, maybe getting served some papers will make him want to pay you back before it reaches a judge. or he could be an asshole and draw it out as long as possible for you.

I would suggest a real stern warning in the form of a letter.
You have his address so just let canada post do the rest.
If that doesn't work. RS beat down crew.

If the guy has pulled this type of stunts a few times, he would be pretty blase about threats etc by now. | Pull is all about leverage; not whether said scammer is a board member or not.
With Alex Park, exposure posed a threat to his career/livelihood. As for Rick McMaster, nobody has really been able to figure that out yet.
