I just wanted to ask the RS community if there was any alternative (better) way to deal with this rather than take the long and tedious small claims route. Better yet I was hoping someone here might know him personally and told him to man the fuck up. RS is a big community and Vancouver is city afterall.
A thought I had would be messaging all his friends on FB exposing him and maybe forcing him to pay. Is that wise?

guy obviously has no intention of paying you back. That last message is the final nail "its just $1000, get over it".
Do the right thing, just file the claim and let the it go through the system as long as it may be. Then continue to bug the guy day in day out until he gives it back.

if it wasn't a straight up scam it was one of those guys working out of the back of his car trunk with no cash flow using your $ to fund his current job while hoping his next client will then fund yours...when he runs in to a cash flow problem one or more clients gets fucked over...the unlucky one happened to be OP...
