Import as second car?

Hey guys, I was wondering if it would be a smart move to purchase an import as a second car? I sold my EK Civic after 3 months of ownership, (POS) and looking to upgrade. It's a 1999 Legacy B4 RSK but I was wondering about parts selection and availability here in Vancouver.

You'll have no problems finding parts for that particular import. It's 2015 year of the subies after all

how is 1999 Legacy a 2015 subie after all?

and god damn it, that 15 year old rule should be decreased to 5 years.
Japan doesn't have 15 year old rule, I believe New Zealand, Australia, Russia, England, etc...don't have 15 year old.
I know USA has 25 year old rule for some reason but it's retarded.

I owned a 1999 GTB legacy, same as the B4 just a wagon.

They are sweet cars, thats if and when the Twin Turbo system is working correctly. Vacuum systems in these motors are stupid annoying, and there is plenty of lines because of both the turbos. You have a primary turbo and secondary turbo, the secondary turbo can take ages to come on it feels (especially if you have a boost leak).

You should put aside money for maintenance and unexpected repairs with these motors though, I have known a couple different owners with ringland problems and stock motors blowing up randomly.

If this RSK Legacy will be your daily driver be prepared for repairs, if you have the funds and do everything you can to make it like new mechanically then you will be fine.

The owner of the one I brought over has had zero problems to this day still....but thats because I paid good money for one from a very reputable broker/dealer in Japan. But even with that I still had to do all the brakes, suspension, fluids, plugs, and tires.

Its your call, my advice is get it as cheap as you can

It has 55,000kms and I've gotten the seller down to $7,000. Im having a mechanic come check it out with me, is there anything else I should check for specifically?

Thanks guys

compression and leak down the motor if you can before you buy it....

the low mileage means nothing, it can easily be altered.

Most of my cars from Japan have all been higher mileage, I prefer a car thats been driven and maintained.

Good luck!

got a link to this car for sale btw?

Car looks pretty clean. Rims are nice; you could resell those for a bit im sure.:

Went to drive it for the second time, the car stutters and hesitates when it boosts. Kind of jerks and the boost jumps up and down (drops 5 psi then back up 5psi constantly). Should I pass on this vehicle?
