Bumping an old thread but did anyone actually joined teksavvy? I'm ready to leave shaw after this month price increase. Seems like Shaw likes to increase the price every 3-6 months and it never seems to stop. My Shaw internet bill went from $40, $45, $50, $55, $60, $67, and now $70 with most of the increase with in the last year.

You have to buy their modem if you don't have a compatible modem. I paid $167cdn for the modem, shipping, one months service, and taxes. The price stays the same forever and no contract. So now instead of $78/month with Shaw, I'll be paying $45 with TekSavvy.

I didn't want any down time so I signed up without cancelling my Shaw and a few hours later, TekSavvy said Shaw won't let them put the order through without a cancellation date. So I had to call Shaw and cancel on a certain date and then call TekSavvy to let them know of the date.

I just moved recently and decided to jump ship and change from Shaw to Teksavvy. It's been great so far. The only thing was installation took a while (they have to sent out a Shaw tech.) Iirc it took just under two weeks from when I scheduled it to when they actually got a technician out.

My Shaw's cancellation date is coming up and TekSavvy still has not got back a response from Shaw about the provisioning date. Shaw is purposely not responding to 3rd party's tickets hoping you will stay with them. And Shaw has been calling everyday trying to keep me from cancelling. Their offer is $35/month for 6 months. I said do $35/month forever and I'll stay. Their response was to call back every 6 months and cancel and get a new deal

Here's an update about my switch. Turns out Shaw provisioned the TekSavvy modem maybe more then a week before my Shaw cancellation date and never communicated that to TekSavvy. I actually tested the modem about a week before and it was working fine. So I actually got a few days of free internet but I was also using Shaw up to the cancellation date at the same time. The upload speed was too slow so I decided to change to a faster speed and put in a request to TekSavvy to increase the speed. Shaw did the speed change in 5 business days. So not bad and kudos to Shaw for doing everything in a timely matter

Speedtest done at 3pm today
