Thanks everyone, ordered a Sandisk Ultra II 240gb for $119 from NCIX that's big enough to hold my Vista OS and programs with room to spare.
I might migrate to a refurbished Mac Mini (2012) in the future and will re-use it there, but for now I'm looking forward to the new lease on life for my current system.
Anyone have recommendations for a SSD drive? Was originally going to get a Samsung 850 EVO (250gb) but found out that it's problematic. Now I'm looking at the Samsung 850 Pro (128gb). Any advice?

Intel drives if you want rock-solid reliability. Speed doesn't really matter THAT much in the grand scheme of things for SSD's, they're all pretty fast anyways.

Where did you read this? As far as I know only the 840 series had degradation after awhile. I have the 850 evo and it's been working fine for me.
