Received a call from Shaw, said I've been over my limit of 400Gb. Looked back at the history we used about 800GB the past couple of months guess that's the downfall when living with 6 people(family).

lolwut we have 6 in the house and we barely pass our limit of 400

did they suggest you update your internet package? or just told you to slow down?

I can't speak for you folks on Shaw, but over the past few months, our family has been exceeding our limit of 150GB/month on our Telus package (basic.) We've exceeded consistently over the past 4 months by 50GB, which I believe is about $5 for the first 50GB, then $10 afterwards.

Seeing this trend, the logical sense was to upgrade our package to the next tier which offers I believe 300GB/month and a 25Mbps pipe as opposed to the 15 we had before. This works out as we have OptikTV and my folks enjoy streaming their content over a media centre.

I think the most logical sense is for providers to generate revenue based on usage since most customers are downloading a lot more these days.

anyone else noticed that shaw has recently increased the data cap on all internet packages? ranging from 5GB to 50GB increase on the higher speeds

I mean it would be great of unused bandwidth would roll over to the next month but then i would have to wake up from my dream.
