Coming out of the automotive closet

I like Fieros.

There, I said it!!!

People do all sorts of cool shit with them.

Fiero Ferrari pros:

- Cheap parts
- Not afraid to track it. Crash it? Throw it in the gutter and build another
- LSx engine swap possible, along with Northstar, 3.4 DOHC and 3800SC, etc
- The look on the faces of people when you say it is a Fiero

Fiero Ferrari cons:

- The look on the faces of people when you say it is a Fiero

Nothing wrong with Fiero's. Quirky little sports car I suppose. Buddy had one in high school and it was slizzammed to the floor. Even had the "Oh so f'kin low" sticker.

But making a Fiero into a Ferrari? That's fucking retarded, dumb, pointless....................etc

TOS'd 03-30-2015 01:56 PM

OP, dis u?

Traum 03-30-2015 02:08 PM

Dude, this one is for you then. Should definitely look into it:

West Coast Fieros Club : Home Page

Had the chance to briefly meet up with them in the past. Seems like a bunch of good and fun loving folks.

hud 91gt 03-30-2015 02:12 PM

Besides being unreliable, what isn't there to like about Fiero's. Pontiac was spot on when they made them, if they weren't such a piece of shit I think they would have done really really well. The GT has v6 torque in a mid engine rwd chassis? Can I get a F$&k ya!?!?

Who remembers the Cadi V8 swap a member had on here years ago? That was way more entertaining then all the boring turbo civics it was competing with. Who was that member anyhow?

Out of the closet? That's for the miata guys. But saying that, I guess I came out as soon as mazda made the thing ;)

Unique cars that was killed off just as it began getting better. The 88 year had the better handling setup. They've become a cult car now and I prefer the stock GT look over a fake Ferrari. Something about posing just isn't right. But a 3.8 supercharged motor is pretty awesome!

punkwax 03-30-2015 03:07 PM

lol Welfiero

Hondaracer 03-30-2015 03:59 PM

Capt Fiero who used to be on here had the northstar V8 swap in his, claimed to get the front tires off the ground i believe

jpark 03-30-2015 05:01 PM

I remember seeing this video a while back, a really well done Murcielago Fiero replica..
Sounds like shit though with that GM 3.8 pos v6 :fuckthatshit:

SumAznGuy 03-30-2015 05:37 PM

I remember USA Top Gear had an episode where they drove "high end" cars as a chauffer and one of them had a Fiero 308. LOL

I must admit, I still love the look of an 88 GT. I always wanted one because of the look of the exterior.
I swear the second gen MR2 stole their looks from the 88 GT's.

fliptuner 03-30-2015 07:15 PM

I always thought of them as Sunbirds, with the drivetrain jumbled around.

multicartual 03-30-2015 07:18 PM

Shocked that I didn't get failed down, my ability to predict reactions on RS isn't as good as I thought!

liked fieros when i was in elementary school growing up. a girl that lived across the street had one :megusta:

heleu 03-31-2015 10:45 AM

Fieros are cool. GM should have kept on developing them instead of abandoning it after a few years. They could have made a decent American MR2.

Except the interior....typical 80's awful GM interior.

TouringTeg 04-02-2015 07:45 PM

Just found you an 86 GT with V6 plus a parts car. Now get on it!

underscore 04-02-2015 08:54 PM

Buddy of mine in highschool had one, the interiors were awful. They're neat enough cars but there's no way I'd pick one over an MR2.

westopher 04-03-2015 12:11 AM

Pros: people who like fieros enough to drive them will die in a horrible gasoline fire.
Cons: see above.

jlenko 04-03-2015 02:43 PM

I'm with the OP.. I've wanted one for a while. Maybe if I can find a decent 88 GT around I'll ditch the Crapalier project and stuff the L32 into a Fire-O instead..

Timpo 04-03-2015 02:52 PM

I just don't see a point of replica.

It usually costs $30-45,000 to build a Ferrari 348/F355 replica and at that price, you can buy a real Ferrari.

I know fake one would be cheaper to maintain, but still, if that's the case why wouldn't you buy something cheaper to maintain like Miata, Datsun 240Z, MR2, Silvia, etc.

Habboy 04-03-2015 03:50 PM

*New* 1984 Pontiac Fiero 200 kms

This would be something....never driven? BRAND NEW????

hud 91gt 04-03-2015 04:51 PM

That is actually really cool.

punkwax 04-03-2015 04:57 PM

What are the chances? Do it, multi!
