It was the right PR move by his employer to fire him. They needed to do something before the public started tearing them down, demanding that guy's head. What you do with your private life is your business, until you decide to make a fool of yourself on public television, and then it goes completely viral. People WILL find out who you are, and find out who you work for, and try to destroy you. This was a hard lesson for that idiot. Hopefully, it will prevent others from being douchebags. Probably, not.

Random thought: What would the reaction be if they did the same thing, except add "Don't" in front of it?

68style 05-14-2015 02:49 PM

Yes.

Example:

Drunk guy: "DON'T fuck her right in the pussy!"

Reporter: "You misogynist je... wait... did you say 'don't' F her in the P?"

Drunk guy: "Yah... I did... cuz you should FUCK HER RIGHT IN THE ASS!!!! #nobabies"

Less severe consequences, but possibly even more outrageous:

Calgary man fined after yelling obscenity at CBC-TV reporter - The Globe and Mail

Quote:

Calgary police have fined a man $402 for making an obscene remark to a CBC-TV reporter while she was doing a report on obscene remarks made at female reporters.

Police said the fine was for “stunting,” an offence under the Alberta Traffic Safety Act, which forbids people from doing anything that would distract, startle or interfere with drivers. Stunting is not a criminal offence. Police say the man’s name cannot be released under the act.

The man made the remark out of a truck window at CBC reporter Meghan Grant on April 24. Ms. Grant tweeted that the investigating officer said the man apologized and felt embarrassed, but she said, “he hasn’t apologized to me.” She said the man can go to trial to fight the ticket. A police spokesperson said she did not know if the man had done so.

It may be the first time a Canadian has been charged in connection with obscene remarks made to reporters. The issue of on-air harassment of mostly female reporters has been in the news since a Toronto reporter, Shauna Hunt, asked a man on live television after a Toronto FC soccer game why he joined a degrading activity. The man, Shawn Simoes, who called the activity “amazing,” has since been fired from his $107,000 a year job by Hydro One Inc.

Alberta’s fine for stunting increased to $543 on May 1.
Seriously? A vehicular "stunting" fine for yelling out his window? That can't possibly stick if appealed.

underscore 05-14-2015 03:41 PM

Unless the reporter was driving I don't see how that's stunting, at least the severity of the consequences better match the offense though.

Here is the full version.

Still don't know why he was fired, she was confronting the guy looking for trouble. She didn't seem too offended by it, I mean, she didn't even bother going after the guy who actually said it.

^ because his firm doesn't want to be associated with an idiot. It degrades the reputation of his firm.

Why is that so hard to understand?

Here is another way to think about it. Let's say he is not currently employed and he goes to an interview with this exact same company after this incident. Would the company hire him? No, for the same reason that he is being let go now.

It's not only degrading to women. I think it's pretty embarrassing. This Shawn dude is delusional if he thinks it's hilarious.

I guarantee that he doesn't think it's funny now. :lawl: What a dumbass!

My Mama would give me a good tongue lashing if I said that phrase on live television.

Not to mention, one of the guys was so stupid that what he was saying didn't even make any sense...

"Because it's substantial." - WTF does that even mean?

It's substantial? Is this a movement that you're taking part in? If FHRITP is "substantial" in your life, you belong in a high school classroom.

68style 05-18-2015 02:00 PM

Lol I'm only guessing here but he's probably fucking wasted! Are you the king of literacy when you're plastered?

The post you quoted refers to Shawn, the guy who got fired. The guy you quoted isn't Shawn, so you're "talking" about two different people, tips.

I wonder if she'll be fired.

Apart from the obviousness of the actors in the first scene...

The reporting scene and the newsroom anchor scene are from two DIFFERENT newscasts.

KBAK newsroom does not look like that of CBS47. TWO DIFFERENT news companies, two different new banners, both used to make this scene you used as a failure of an example to look real.

Lesson learned from Centerplate.

They're both run by CBS, KBAK is in Bakersfield and CBS47 is out of Fresno. Close enough to have events affecting both of them and simply sending one reporter out instead of two who effectively work for the same company.

That said I'm unable to find a listing of KBAK reporters to find out for sure if that guy is/was or isn't/wasn't a reporter for them.
