| Need some help with my Alpine type R...
Hey guys just want to know what my options are.
I have a 12" type-R its a couple years old and the seal (i guess that's what its called) around the main area is loose. [ the rubber part that allows the sub to move ] 
the sub itself looks like above.
thinking would it be okay/safe to glue it back with some super glue or silicon?

I know. I have the same subs in my car. It depends which part of the foam wtv is tearing. Is it separating at the dust cap, or the outer rim of the frame? If at the dust cap, you can try the super glue route as it usually works. If at the outer frame area, it often tears if you try and reglue it

Check out Main Electronics. They should have the speaker glue you need.
Silicone won't hold because it will likely stretch.

I normally use 15 or 30 min epoxy glue for most speaker repairs. It is a much better glue for that purpose. but don't use too much cause it will add weight to the cone.

as a guy whos done actual speaker repair (lots of it and for a shop that specialized in it) use rubberized super glue to hold the surround to the cone its black.

I have used Shoe Goo brand adhesive and its very strong and rubbery so its the perfect fix for this. Its about $8 from Cambodian Tire.
