I actually am far worse at parallel parking than I used to be. When I first got my license my instructor taught me a trick to get it perfect every time, and I could impress my friends for years afterwards. Then I got a jeep with big tires and forgot the trick because I could pretty much park by braille every time. Switched to motorcycles for a few years and all parallel parking skill pretty much went out the window at that point. When I got my lowered GTI I curbed the wheels about 4 times in the first couple weeks.

So since I traded it in for a 370Z with the upgraded Rays 19" wheels, I'm just trying to avoid making the same mistakes.

I hear you on the braille parking.. definitely does not help with any other vehicle parking!

Really depends on your wheel style.. but for 99% if not 100% of wheel applications I'd say these are pretty much useless. Might as well put electrical tape on the edge of your wheels and save the money. The first curb you hit will probably destroy these things, not to mention nick the rest of the wheel that's not covered by it

highsided my bike, that $70 yoshi slider saved my bike from being written off.

While alloy gators are the most available in Vancouver, they are also the fugliest rim guard you can possibly buy.

I had to install rim guards because I have black rims, and all the snow and gravel kicked up by my front tires kept chipping the lip on my rear wheels.

I would recommend ordering rimblades from carlashes.ca, or get their other product, rimringz.

Both are made by the same company. I put black on black, I don't like the colour accents on my rims. Rimblades ae DIY and the most inconspicuous of the DIY rim guard products out there.

Rimringz can only be installed by a professional tire shop, because they are a full silicone ring that stretches over the edge of the wheel like an elastic band, and the tire itself holds the ring in place. You have to seat the tire on the ring, deflate it, lower the bead using the tire mounted, then tuck the ring in again. They are by far the best option, although a pain in the ass the have installed.

Another option I've just discovered is going to your local crappy tire and buying a couple cans of the spray on "protect dip".

It's a rubber coating that comes in various colours, including clear, and functions like a removable plasti-dip.

:P don't go with protect dip, doesn't do anything for protection because it's a thin layer that'll just peel off the second anything hits it and looks kinda tacky depending on the application. If you do want to go that route, Home Depot in the states sells cans of plastidip for like $7 iirc, better than the $20 or whatever they charge here. I've also seen those wheel guard things from BMW, the grey ones that match the wheel color don't look too bad. I wouldn't be putting it on anything other than stock wheels though, no matter what they look kinda funky imo.

N-motion in Burnaby off lougheed has rim guards. As does Crystal mall near Metrotown.
And a lot of car shops in Richmond carry them ...:thumbsup:

Tick the boxes for a rear view camera and parking assistant sensors and stick out from the crowd with room from the curb. Who cares you laid down the $$$ for the rims. After you drive away with mint rims who gives a sxxx? Nothing looks worse than curb rash on a otherwise pristine car and you're looking at minimum $200 repair per wheel. I leave a few inches of room for my BIM and lose a bit of respect for cars with curb rash. Not for the car. The driver. It's about the paper not other drivers' opinion about how you park. Their probably kissing the curb.

This was a G35 Coupe driven by that woman in the pic. All 4 wheels on the car were rashed around the whole entire wheel exactly the same as the one in the pic. It happens to others but i just seem to notice it happen more with Asian woman, could i be wrong ??
