Automotive inspired furniture / art (TOP GEAR TABLE)

Curious to see what kind of automotive stuff people own or have seen/want in their houses as decorative pieces.

For my birthday this year my brother decided that he was going to attempt to recreate a version of the "Top Gear" table for my place. Took him 3 weeks all said and done but the finished product is incredible!

This is how he found the block, he did some research, figures it's from a late 80s fox body mustang. Got a wicked deal for $50 for it at a scrapyard

Next he had to find pistons which apparently aren't as easy to find as you might think, went to a ton of places before he finally found a place that builds old dragster motors and paid a case of beer for 4 old used ones

Then he took the pieces to get media blasted to looking virtually brand new again and spray painted the block and pistons to look genuine

Finally went and got tempered glass ($200) and rubber holds to rest the glass down, took some minor fabrication to get the pistons to sit like that but finished product came out pretty awesome

Your brother did a great job!

Here is my 19x9 AME Shallen AX coffee table. I bought a pair online that were supposed to be both diamond cut. Turns out one was chrome and one diamond cut. I sold the chrome one and kept this one. Cut the barrel in half and waited for the right table to come up for sale.

Had to get rid of the table last year to baby proof the house so here is a crappy pic. The wheel is hanging in the garage now.
