Talking to nammers is always fun because they're opinionated and animated!

They remind me of the asian version of an Italian

Well duh, only white people can be racist.

I have two sets of tools, American and Chinese made. I do the bulk of my grunt work with the Chinese set because they're disposable. If it's something I care about that requires better tools, I use the domestic set. I tend to throw around the Chinese set, the air tools don't get much oil.

That being said, I've only had to replace one Chinese made tool. They work, but if you split the more complex tools open, you can really see why they are so cheap.

I buy domestic when I can, that goes for everything. If not for the difference in quality, then for the rejection of the horrendous living and working conditions that Chinese workers go through to make (x) product.

The tailgate doesn't lie, Chinese products have been known to contain toxic chemicals and ingredients unsafe for human consumption and use. It's no surprise that certain regulations that come standard here simply do not exist there.

Peasant? If he is the owner of the house behind him, and assuming that he works in construction by the attire he is wearing and the condition of his truck, the guy probably rakes in cash faster than your mum and dad can afford to buy you your N-stickered Audi.

Don't get cocky.

This may not apply to him but will definitely apply to others:

Many come to Canada to GET AWAY from what you find in a country like China. But to find that 'system' slowly bleeding into the country you fled to at a point where it affects the country itself totally warrants outrage IMO.

parm104 06-19-2015 01:20 AM

Guarantee that the Reebok t-shirt he is wearing is imported from some 3rd world country, guilty of the same shit his truck slogan is suggesting to boycott.

Lookie here, Ulic's rant combined with this new evidence makes him look like a bipolar ranting psycho again. It must be Friday on revscene.

Like I said, just because the guy takes issues with how the Peoples Republic of China is run, doesn't mean he hates Chinese people.

You can love Chinese people and China itself, and still think they have a fucked up, corrupt government which tries to influence culture in their favour, and may eventually lead to the downfall of mankind. (Just look at what they did to poor Ulic...) But that doesn't make you a racist.

Race is utterly irrelevant to the guy's complaints - they could be from anywhere and everywhere in the world. There are plenty of fucked up things to complain about in just about every country in the world. And it's not like other countries with other races aren't benefiting from this "system" either.

This isn't even getting to t he fact that there is only one race - human - anyway. That's a whole other issue that people need to address if they think "races" are inherently different from each other.

This.

I'm dual citizenship with both Canada and USA. In general, I actually really like both countries. Each one has good qualities to it and the people you meet are generally very pleasant and friendly. However, that's not going to stop me about bitching about certain policies or other things about said countries. I love Canada and couldn't imagine moving out of it, but that doesn't mean I support or agree with many of the governing party's policies or actions. I respect and adore the USA, but that doesn't stop me from speaking out against the Second Ammendment or make fun of certain Southern stereotypes (even if they are mostly incorrect).

westopher 06-19-2015 08:25 AM

So now the new topic at hand? Are the people that assumed this was an angry white person racist?
This is irony at it's finest.

bcrdukes 06-19-2015 08:36 AM

Don't make me spray paint your neighbourhood, westopher!

westopher 06-19-2015 08:47 AM

Lol. "Kill whitey"
"Whites go home"
This would also be some hilarious irony.

CivicBlues 06-19-2015 08:59 AM

LOL at all the white people in this thread trying to categorize what is and what is not racist.

Reminds me of the Boomer meme:

Who can categorize what's racist and what's not? Is it exclusive to people that aren't white?

Black People. :accepted:

But seriously,
I don't subscribe to the belief that only whites are racist or that they are never victims of racism, but 99% of whites who live in Canada their entire lives DO NOT experience racism. I can say the same for 99% of Chinese who spend their entire lives living in China.

Sorry but being stared down by an Asian shopkeeper or being called gweilo doesn't count.

Technically, by definition of the word, it does. But I do agree we don't deal with the hardships of racism nearly as much as probably any other groups, but anyone, of any race can understand what it is if they look at things objectively. The people that are most racist to white people are white people hilariously enough. The self loathing Caucasians that believe all of us hate all of the world and they are the only white individual leading a crusade for human rights. Vancouver is full of them.
Just like the male feminists that think all men are rapist Neanderthals except for them.

Try living in a french part of Quebec as an anglophone from BC. I have personally been ripped by francophone caucasians for not being able to speak french.
Is that racist?
Or simply xenophobic?

Before you answer that, what is the difference?

Absolutely. The loudest 'opponents' of racism are white leftist liberals (god bless them) who see everything that doesn't reduce humans into grey, genderless blobs as the next holocaust. However I wouldn't call it whites being racists to whites.

Racism is when you're:
Being told to go back to your country when you're born in Canada
Being called a "fucking Chink"
Being spat on and shoved for no apparent reason
Being flat out refused service and told to leave a store.

Granted, the majority of these events happened to me while travelling outside of Canada. Which brings me to my other point.

Canada is an extremely welcoming and tolerant nation, possibly the most tolerant in the entire world (and I've seen a fair chunk of it.) So if this truck is the worse that we can dish up, I say we have it pretty good. BUT...I can see this anti-china/anti-foreigners thing here in Vancouver to spiral out of control if left unchecked. We do have a history of Anti-Chinese riots, Japanese Internment that people seem to conveniently forget.

trollguy 06-19-2015 09:35 AM

racism is when i was driving my old ricer car and made an illegal uturn and this dude told me to learn to drive you chink

It's just called being French :smug:

I would call that Xenophobia. However you're not being singled out for your outward appearance. If you minded your own business and spoke to no one, I doubt anyone would hassle you.

The french are definitely a proud people, and for the most part the average Quebec citizen that I encountered was a kind, decent human being. But like anything, the bad individuals really stood out. That said, how does one go through their daily life without communicating? In an average day you would need to 1)order a coffee at Tims 2) get gas for the car 3) speak with co-workers (who were the kindest folk of all). I learned how to speak french very quickly, and immersed myself in the culture by smoking and drinking in Jazz bars. But my wife was terrified to go to the supermarket.

I would never say that I understand what a black person goes through living in the south, or what an asian person feels when someone does their best rendition of "no tickee, no shirtee". But from what I have experienced, it sucks. To be written off because you look, speak, or believe something different than everyone else. It's a feeling of being alone, while surrounded by millions of people.

While the terms racism, xenophobia, judgemental, bigotry, et al are different, the result is the same. People being considered lower because of their differences.

I truly believe that the only way humans will work together is if the aliens attack. We need a common enemy to bring us together.
