Damn that thing stopped pretty quick, you might be able to argue that he should have ran the yellow. Not entirely sure though..

I think there should be a first rule on the internet.. never ever share self incriminating evidence

Since you have shared the video already, there is no way to fight this. Whether it is "just" a screw dent or full blown airbag + write off, you hit the car in front of you, you are at fault.

Just admit it, take the penalty and move on.

Your best option is to pay off the damage done to the car. It might cost you 400-800 to repair or replace the bumper. I rear ended a car long time ago and it was just a small scuff. But because it was a new car, they bought a brand new bumper and I paid about $800. But my insurance doesn't go up. That's your best option. If you decide to let icbc pay for it, your insurance can sometimes triple depending on the discount level you are at.

afaik there's really no way to fight rear enders anyways unless someone completely cuts you off. May be offer to pay OoP?

i was in a similar situation years back as it was raining. Zero damage and we went our separate ways luckily, since then I keep a fair distance...and always anticipate the light change with stale greens, esp a busy intersection like granville & bway

Im not ashamed of the fact that this is guaranteed to be my fault, I'm just feeling shitty that the guy in front didn't go through the yellow when he was approximately 5 feet away from the intersection when the light changed to yellow. Normal drivers would have gone through and it just seemed like he wasn't even paying attention to the road as he was swerving all over the lane. In addition, he came to a complete stop before the light even turned red if you look closely.
I don't know, you guys can watch it as entertainment. Ill most likely have to suck it up and pay for his new bumper anyways since I was the one who rear-ended him and didn't pay close enough attention to the crosswalk signal. =/

Sorry, I know it probably appear a lot different in real life than on video.
But weren't you going a lot slower around 00:13-17...as compared to 00:20?

It might seem you were [originally] planning to run the yellow/red too?

nono, I was just keeping up with the pace of the traffic. L
Note to self, remove front plate and bracket so there won't be anymore screw dents next time I rear end someone. lol

If the driver was truly as erratic as you've mentioned, seems like a good enough way to argue for 75/25 or 50/50 fault with ICBC.. They love those (Both people's premiums increase).

I agree with those that say take it through ICBC and just reimburse them, so as not to affect your premiums. Submit the video if he was driving poorly. It won't change anything for you but if he's partially at fault and has to pay too, it'll make for a good lesson.

ICBC will hold you 100% liable for sure. They will argue that you are supposed to leave enough room between yourself and the car ahead of you.

Back pain from what? Hard to tell but in the video it looks like he doesn't even move in his car when the impact occurred.

If the accident was under 30km/hr, ICBC will most likely deny his injury claim. Especially if he had a pre-existing injury (happened to me when my brother and I were rear-ended a few years ago).

Believe it or not, in British Columbia a yellow traffic light tells you that you must stop before you enter the intersection! Yes, I know that there is one caveat to that statement, and it is "unless the stop cannot be made in safety." The onus is on the driver that does not stop for the yellow light to show that it was unsafe if they are involved in court proceedings because of their decision.

100% ur fault. Sorry this happened. And its too bad people abuse and lie saying they have health issues or pain. If he has back problems from that bump ... well then I don't know how he survives everyday life.

that video should help your case, as well as estimators looking at the damage on the bumper cover.

Before this latest turn of events, most of us were suggesting that you just pay for the other car's repairs.

Now, you should still do that, but definitely submit the video to ICBC to help fight the BS "back pain as a result of this accident" claim.
