Pretty sure the $1 each is a loss leader

Pretty sure that $1.65 is the ballpark standard retail price for the average varieties.

Kumamoto and Miyagi should be closer to $2 each I think?

Lobster man has prices on the Web. Lighthouse, royal mirage, and one more are $9.98/doz. And the more expensive ones like kuushi and more are $17.98/doz.

I just checked his website and its showing Royal Miyagi Oysters for $9.98/doz as well. That sounds like a fantastic deal.

i usually pay $35 for a bag of Oysters which basically has 100 in them. If u know any fisherman they could easily hook u up.

I just do Whole Foods. Same price as Lobster Man but they shuck them for you where as Lobster Man doesn't.

Whole foods typically has 4-5 kins with the Kush being the most expensive at around $1.40/each but most of their other ones come in around just under $1/each

Hondaracer 07-14-2015 01:01 PM

So what do you do with them after they shuck them? In terms of getting them home

Special K 07-14-2015 11:22 PM

Whole foods put it in a take out tray with a bed of ice. Consume within 2 hours is what they say.

I usually eat them within 15 mins from door to door.

Thank you

T&T and i get them to schuck it.. but i don't do it western style
1) sashimi
2) soya sauce with "fen see" and garlic.

godwin 07-16-2015 03:51 AM

Rajio has a dozen miyagi for 13.20 on their fresh sheet.

I'm heading to Granville Island on Sat to get a bunch from the lobsterman, hopefully the prices will still be decent. Will report back with pictures.

murd0c 07-18-2015 10:16 AM

Damn never mind but thanks anyways tho.

So I called Lobsterman yesterday and they currently have lighthouse oysters this week for $9.95 a dozen. Heading to Granville island in an hour or two and will let you know if they have any other decent selections

murd0c 07-18-2015 08:25 PM

I want to thank everyone who suggested the lobsterman, went today and picked up two dozen light house and one dozen little wing oysters for $9.95 a dozen. I haven't shucked oysters and I'm so shocked how easy it actually is. Nothing beats some oysters on the half shell and oyster shooters!!

How much per dozen?

Klobbersaurus 07-19-2015 03:46 PM

it would probably be around $6 a dozen

Nlkko 07-19-2015 09:31 PM

I got 2 dozen Lighthouse for myself from Lobster Man. Was quite refreshing.

My first time schucking was actually quite easy. I used an old blunt veg peeler. Was super fast and didn't get a scratch. Retained most of natural brine.

Something that looks like this.

yray 07-19-2015 09:44 PM

Eternal_SiR 07-20-2015 06:41 AM
